Fuel consumption goes up when braking?

I'm curios, when I'm braking and car has almost came to stop, the needle on fuel consumption gauge moves to the right (to ~15L) momentarily, then drops to 0. I'm not quite sure what the reason could be, any ideas?

Technically when idling at a light, your gauge should be at infinity for usage. Since you're not moving and still burning gas (if ASS is off and the engine is running). It's normal, all the cars sweep like that. Don't worry, you're not using much gas.

No, I mean the needle swings to the right as I'm slowing down, then goes back to 0 when the car is stopped.

As you're slowing down, injector duty cycle is zero (your using no fuel, the engine isn't running).

When revs continue to fall toward idle speed, fuel starts being injected again to prevent a stall...

The gauge drops to zero when you're stopped per usual.

I'm assuming your swing to the right only occurs once your revs have fallen below, say 1.2 of 1.5k (or where ever your engine picks up idle fueling again).

I haven't gotten much useful info from any gauge except fuel light and of course oil since only way to check.

If you want info get scanguage for water temp, current ( short term ) mpg, and real MPH.

You can discover that the engine runs hotter when you cruise, but cooler when beating on it: brilliant idea.

Once, I got 42 mpg for 70 miles at about 65-75 mph ( some tailwind).

For one long hot day at 80 mph I got 23 mpg.

I can cruise through town with stop lights and get better than 23 mpg.

For the speed and powewr mpg is excellent on my s28i.

Another reason to enjoy the 35i as opposed to 28i...we have an oil temp gauge where you have the silly instantaneous fuel mileage gauge.
