Enhanced Bluetooth Audio
This may be a silly question but by "enhanced bluetooth audio" does that mean ONLY being able to use my phone? Or should I be able to also stream audio from my iPod?
Thanks in advance! |

As far as I can tell, there is nothing enhanced with the enhanced Bluetooth option. I ordered it on my X1 without navigation hoping to get streaming Bluetooth. Picked up my car last Saturday but there does not appear to be any Bluetooth streaming. However , my iPhone 5 connects with the lightning cable which did not work on the base car so not a complete waste. Love the car though and glad I choose it.

Connected with iPhone and able to get navigation instruction via Bluetooth on car speakers (both google map and iMap). However, you will lose the audio if y-cable is connected to the phone and to USB only for charging (3.5mm not connected).

Hmm. Must be a technology package requirement. During my test drive of X1, my kid figured out how to stream from his iPhone in a matter of minutes. Sounded much better than I expected. Made me wonder why they added the extra USB port. I guess it is for when you don't have tech package. Glad I ordered it.

What does it have if ordered without navigation? All I need is normal Bluetooth for taking calls. My Samsung Gallaxy Note provides all of the navigation functions, and we have a unit with a 7" screen we bought from Frys for $99 (including free limetime map data upgrades) which works nicely. I can't see any reason to pay $2,000 for a factory unit.

I'm quite satisfied with the ability to make hands-free calls via bluetooth. It would have been fantastic to have streaming audio too, but given that would have put me way out of my budget range, this is great for now! |

The Enhanced Bluetooth functionality is paired with the BMW Assist option, not navigation. It allows you bluetooth streaming audio via any bluetooth-capable device and the ability to use the standard iPhone USB cable (as opposed to BMW's proprietary cable) to connect, as others have discussed. Otherwise, you'll still get bluetooth calling standard.

X1 7HB enhanced package include idrive?
Hi
This thread so nearly answers my question - trying to figure out if you get the screen and iDrive knob if you order the enhanced bluetooth telephone functionality? Then, if you also order package ZOA which includes 508 (the park distance control front and rear), because you've got the screen with 7HB, does it show a visual of the front and back park (the distance bars)? |

AFAIK, only the bluetooth chipset in Navi supports A2DP (audio streaming). Professional one doesn't. It's very annoying indeed as many ~$100 aftermarket deck supports that now. The USB-iPhone connector cable (regardless of new or old) would only get you charging and playback control, only the 3.5mm connector cable would get you audio to AUX. The USB port is not for any audio related purpose.
The reason for getting the Navi is not only for navi, but also for backup camera and other driver assist features. Yes, $2k is a lot for it, and it's annoying that backup camera is not a default feature. My feeling that the Professional head unit has an old Bluetooth chipset as the deck has been used in the previous 3 series for a few years, which A2DP wasn't even available back then. The X1 interior is also designed a few years back and mainly meant to be sold in Europe, where backup cam wasn't a standard features back then either. I picked the X1 mainly for it's engine and transmission as they are the latest. Granted not having the navi, bluetooth streaming and lack of fancy LED interior, it does look dated interior feature wise (my wife even said it's doesn't feel like a BMW...), it still gives me great pleasure daily. |
