I believe what it does is it resets the stored values for your driving habits? I could be wrong. I know on another forum it talks about what it actually does. It works, but it just sucks that you have to do it once a month.

Owners Thoughts

bought a x1 35i msport with ultimate package,6000 miles so far i have a shit eatin grin everytime i get behind the wheel that is when the wifey lets me. i retired a e30 ix to get into this vehicle. if you are a true bmw driver, you know this is the last of the hydro steering cars. these and the 1 and 3 series are the last of the sports car bimmers. my only complaint is the 19" pzero run flats are wearing too fast, but hey they stick great. my next set will be normal tires and for the price difference i can afford a few spares. un stoppable in the snow, very stable in the rain.

Smile X1 Purchase Regrets?

With one year behind the wheel, I'd say no regrets, I would have allocated money differently than I did: Not to purchase the Nav System, Optional seats instead of standard units with lumbar support. Love the 8 speed, and the rack n pinion, plenty of power from the 28i, the vehicle hauls real well, on both hi ways and secondary roads. XDrive is really fine engineering. I had the dealer change the stop/go program, I feel substantially more throttle response with this new program. Gas mileage has been good, mid to upper 20's I use 93 Octane, thinking of my next short in three more years, a very good driving machine!:thumbs up

Could you please explain "had the dealer change the stop/go program"? It sounds like you're referring to having the auto start/stop system default to it's last setting, and I'm not sure how that is related to poor throttle response. I'm desperate for a solution to the poor throttle response that plagues my X1.

Thumbs up X1 Regrets

MoJo, ask your dealer to deactivate auto start/stop feature. My customer copy invoice reads....Reprogramed and encoded vehicle to switch auto start/stop to last user mode. SIB. 121512. My dealer kept the X1 overnite to run the program seems it was quite large (my thought)

I had a sales rep, mechanic and service rep, all tell me this fix would help minimize pedal lag time, for my X1 - I can truly say it has helped eliminate this situation. Also, remember there are other ways to help eliminate this issue as well, our brains, a split second of thought works quite well, our turbo's are not like down-draft carburetors.

We bought a base xDrive28i model with premium and cold weather packs to keep the price down. We should have bought a 35i, sport line, and included paddles. I also regret buying early and new. Ours took a major depreciation hit the first year.

Garage List
That lag isn't the turbo. It's the electronic accelerator communicating with all the sensors. If this car had a good old mechanical linkage I think we'd all be blown away with the throttle response. To date, I have yet to drive a car with an electronic accelerator and like it.

Agree with you here...
I started out at a base S 28i with Tech & Lighting only...waited and waited, never pulled the trigger...
Along came a 35i MSport ultimate with about 9K miles for less than a new S28i sportline with Tech...

Best decision ever. I got into the 35i for $12K under MSRP

Sounds about right. I don't know if the market is saturated or maybe the X1 just isn't that popular after the initial release. Then again, it's still a high priced BMW and should be expected to rapidly depreciate.

I think if you buy a cheaper model and load it up with everything you are going to take a hit when you sell it. I paid 36 for my new x28 with premium, cold weather, wood and metallic paint. Why would someone want to pay more than that for a used model?

No regrets here. Very happy so far (3 days new) with all the decisions we made:

Brand: BMW
Model: X1 xDrive 28i
Trim Level: Base Line
Color Combo: Alpine White/Nevada Black/Silver Matte Trim
Options & Packages: Ultimate Pkg/Lighting Pkg/Heated Seats
Dealer

We're new to BMW Navigation and time will tell if it becomes an issue as others have. Do like the ability to send destinations to the car via Goggle Maps. More importantly is that the rear view camera is a big asset, unless you never go in reverse. Really should be a standard feature on this vehicle and if we didn't get it, would have regretted not doing so.

Just bought at 2014 x1 3.5 msport also have a 2011e92 m3 and just love the x1. As a daily driver was blown away by how nimble it is and quick. By no means is it m3 nimble or quick but just as much fun to drive. Here are 2 pics of both cars. Haven't had a chance to take proper pics of the x1 weather has not cooperated with me lol
