Change out new wheels

My X1 is on a vessel. the only wheel that comes with the X-line trim is the
Y spoke which I'm not crazy about. I asked my dealer if I could change them out when the car arrived at the dealership and they said I would have to purchase the new wheels without any credit towards the ones that come from the factory. Any thoughts on this, is this just my dealer or is this standard. As you may already know there are no optional wheels that can be ordered with the X-Line trim.

Thanks

Usually, the dealers don't do that and is common not to change anything because they can not block their funds and get stuck with a set of wheels that they don't need. Some dealers are open. Usually the busy dealerships have different requests from clients, so sometimes they put together the requests trying to make everybody happy, but that depends if somebody is looking for your type of whels.

However, the negotiations time is before placing the order, eventualy with stipulations in the contract (if they agree). I don't think you can do much now.

With the sDrive28i and xDrive28i, there is style 321 as an option (7spoke, split spoke) and with the xDrive35i the even more badass 323 is an option (multi spoke, looks like a ninja star or something)

When you build the car and choose any wheel option it will tell you that you have to change to the sport line instead of the X line unless they have changed the build since I ordered mine 3 weeks ago, anyone know?

I have the standard wheels with just 1,100 miles on them and would trade you. Unfortunately it would be a long trip from SC to NJ to make the trade.

I think your SA was possibly retarded. BMW has always offered at least 2 wheel options for all X1s except the base model with the 17s. Good news is, there's always Kijiji etc to sell those wheels and buy new ones.

Can anyone else verify the that the X-line trim is available with any wheel options from the factory.

If I do want to buy different wheels and sell the Y spokes that are on the X1 should I go through the dealer or are there better sources available to purchase the wheels from.

Thanks

Buy the wheels from
A. Open Road BMW, they will give you 20% off. OR
B. Flemington BMW, they charge 10% over their cost.
Then Buy the tires from TireRack....

I am getting my car from Open Road (Edison) they will not give me any credit towards the Y spoke wheel that comes on the X-line.

Which is less expensive 20% off or 10% above cost ?

Thanks in advance

It can take some patience to find the wheels you want but eBay is always an option. Many people replace the OEM wheels for aftermarket.

I'm not surprice Open road not give you cerdit. Most dealer don't. Well, find which wheel that you like and call both dealer see who will give you better price. Some dealer will jack up the retail price before they discount the 15%, 20%.....But not Open Road, I bought parts from them all the time, I know all the guys work in the Parts Department.

Even for the base model optional 321 18inch wheels can be selected. That's what I have.

When you take possession of the car, buy the wheels you want and sell off the stock wheels to offset the purchase price. Plenty of us are looking for stock BMW X1 wheels to serve as dedicated winter wheels. I'd like to pick up an extra set to put snow tires on.

Check out Circle BMW for prices on stock wheels.

Questions about selling wheels?

If I have my dealer install a different wheel style when my X1 arrives at the dealership what is the best way to sell the brand new 321 Y spoke wheels that came off the car, EBay, on this forum, etc? I have never sold online before so I am not familiar with the process. As an example if someone local wants to buy them (New York / New jersey) do I agree to meet them and I hand them the wheels and they hand me cash or do they send me a check that I cash and then give them the wheels or am I just better off going the EBay route?

What would a fare price be for these wheels, you can buy them from the dealer for $325 x $ = $1300.

thanks in Advance

Does it not get cold enough in Jersey to warrant winter tires?
Maybe see them in person, you might like them more when you see it.

Go both routes. Ebay will get you lots of buyers, and especially if people want OEM BMW rims for their second seasonal set.
