Saw that pic, but it looked like there weren't any prices on the 35 sheet. Can you repost here?

Jetta isn't exactly a luxury brand. Volvo did offer cloth in the S40/V50 in the US market. Back in the day, vinyl interiors were considered el cheapo even in comparison to cloth. That's my frame of reference.

Isn't that how it should be?? We're not the EU, they have different standards.
In other words, their research shows that US customers would rather buy something that looks kind of like leather rather than something that's more comfortable, just to impress the neighbors.

That photo you saw is a different one. Here is a photo showing the options' price for X1 xDrive35i:

I see. I wonder if that is the complete options list? No standalone comfort access?

when you stop your car at a red traffic light, the engine stops. When you release the break it starts automatically (automatic transmission). This feature is part of the BMW Efficient Dynamics which helps you to save fuel.

If you have a manual transmission car, the engine turns off when you put the stick shift to "neutral", release the clutch and the speed drops below 1-2mp/h. The moment you press the clutch-pedal the engine turns back on.

Great feature - I like it very much.

BTW: To see those U.S. prices makes me totally jealous

The prices are very competitive compared to Europe ones
But here you can choose many options without being necessary to buy a package..
Comparing cloth to vinyl, it's a night and day difference in the favour of cloth

No, that's auto start stop

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...tart_stop.html

Quote:
A clever way to save fuel: the Auto Start Stop function turns off the engine each time the vehicle comes to a complete halt - such as at traffic lights - and restarts it automatically. A reduction in fuel consumption is the result.

The principle is simple: if the engine is not running, it cannot consume fuel. The Auto Start Stop function turns off the engine whenever it is not needed. In a traffic jam or in stop-and-go traffic, simply putting your BMW into neutral and taking your foot from the clutch will activate the function. "Start Stop" on the Info Display signals that the engine has been turned off.
To set off again, just put your BMW back into gear: the moment you depress the clutch, the engine immediately springs back to life and you can drive on without a moment's delay.
Driving comfort and driving safety are not affected by the Auto Start Stop function. The function is not activated, for example, until the engine has reached the ideal running temperature. The same applies if the air conditioner has not yet brought the cabin to the desired temperature, if the battery is not adequately charged or if the driver moves the steering wheel.
The Auto Start Stop function is coordinated by a central control unit that monitors data from all relevant sensors, the starter motor and the alternator. If necessary for comfort or safety, the control unit will automatically restart the engine: for example, if the vehicle begins to roll, the battery charge falls too low or condensation forms on the windscreen.
Furthermore, the system also recognises the difference between a temporary stop and the end of the trip. It will not restart the engine if driver's seatbelt is undone, or if the door or bonnet is open. If desired, the Auto Start Stop function can be completely deactivated with the press of a button.
When used consistently, the Auto Start Stop function delivers significant reductions in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

Even in Canada we pay about 6-7 K more for the same X1 . On other hand the prices for F30 are roughly the same

Again, look at the picture of the orange X1 28 which does not have M sport yet the seats are sport seats.

With a BMW, you actually want to have the non-AWD option. I was shocked to see they added the sDrive option for the 28i in the US (previously was only offered in lower end models for ROW) but am happy they did, even if it was quite likely only so they could offer a lower priced entry model here.
I know BM are traditionally rear wheel drive, however the X-series definitely isn't.

Also, rear wheel drive is not great on snow if you are not into sliding

Each to their own - I love the extra traction I get from the AWD. Ibe also noted the disappointment others have expressed on this forum (though not all!) with the lower spec sDrive and 18 diesel models.

Not sure their display model reflects all us option package restrictions as they may have been working on that right up until the show. However, if they come standard, why would they be listed on the equipment included in the M-Sport package? Also, I've bought a couple of (non-M) BMWs over the years and sport seats never came standard. I'd really be shocked if sport seats were standard at such a low price point for the X1. Hopefully I'm wrong. I don't really care about most of the stuff in the M-Sport package except for sport seats (can't live without them after having two cars with them and driving a loaner without them) and the sport suspension (we'll see about the latter after a test drive of one without it).

Plus, if you're going to go with an sDrive, you might as well just buy an F20 1er. The 120d M Sport is 2700 cheaper then the X1 sDrive20d M Sport, gets better mileage, is a second faster to 0-60, plus the new interior is a step up.

Yeah, but that's not available in the USA...

Gotta see some road tests of the 35, otherwise its the 28 for me.

Yeah, but the OP who didn't see the purpose in the sDrive is in the UK.

IMO, the 35i is a huge disappointment with the old 6AT, no thanks.
