Anyone with an n20 upgrade their intercooler?

Seems like NO ONE sells an intercooler for our cars. BUT, has anyone had any luck retrofitting one? Seems like the VRSF f-chassis might be a good start since it's the most reasonable priced and not TOO big for the n20.

The intercoolers for the N20 and N55 are different via RealOEM.com.
N20 - 17517624146.
  • X1 E84   (04/2009 — 12/2015)
  • Z4 E89   (01/2011 — 05/2016)
N55 - 17517540035.
  • 1' E88   (11/2006 — 10/2013)
  • 1' E82   (11/2006 — 10/2013)
  • 3' E90   (03/2006 — 09/2008)
  • 3' E90   (07/2007 — 12/2011)
  • 3' E91   (03/2006 — 08/2008)
  • 3' E91   (07/2007 — 05/2012)
  • 3' E92   (06/2005 — 02/2010)
  • 3' E92   (11/2008 — 06/2013)
  • 3' E93   (10/2005 — 02/2010)
  • 3' E93 (11/2008 — 10/2013)
  • X1 E84 n55  (04/2009 — 04/2015)
  • Z4 E89   (01/2008 — 05/2016)

What's strange is that the Dinan intercooler fits BMW F22 F23 228i, F30 F31 F34 328i, F32 F36 428i, F22 F23 M235i, F30 F34 335i and the F32 F36 435i... BUT not the x1 with n20.

Given how small the performance market is for those X's and the relatively significant additional cost to each kit to make it work it was determined it wasn't a viable product to continue to go down the development path with.
I find it so strange that n55 x1 can fit an upgraded intercooler behind the msport front bumper but an n20 cannot?! Anyone know why?

Well I actually have. its a custom Job

Here is my tragedy I bought a n20/n55 VRSF to test fit. Couldn't return because of seller and couldn't find a buyer like for 3 months nor a 35i with low miles

So I went with my humble X1 to this local fabrication shop and he took care of it. He did ask why I replied I want to get grocery faster.

As you can see FMIC connectors are different. He had to relocate the mounting brackets, cut off connectors because it cant be cleared by an oil cooler and make custom chargepipes to fit the other half that has throttle body connection and meth plugs (sgear).

Power feels more consistent and stronger getting into higher rpm's

sorry for the crappy photos.

Great news guys!!! I got a PM from VRSF regarding x1 with n20 compatibility. Seems like they've been working on a couple of products for us too!!!

Our CP and our E90 5" & 7" FMIC will work (as soon as our new couplers arrive). No downpipe yet. by VRSF.

Sorry to bump such and old thread. But i was told E series 335 intercoolers are direct bolt on from a friend in europe. I just purchased an E90 335 intercooler and hoping it bolts up with my racing dyamics charge / boost pipes.
