X1 sliding at my driveway
got home and just started snowing, both slots in the garage are taken so I decided to park the X1 on the driveway with the parking brake pulled!! Around 10 seconds gone by, I heard this "not loud" alarm going off so I ignore it cause I thought it was somebody else's car and our neighbor alerted us that your car is in the middle of the street. She thought I was in it and wondering why would I just stop there. She also mentioned the alarm that she heard but not loud. The picture above is the second time of it doing it again. Yes, I did and tried it again after parking and making sure the parking brake is on again. I saw it slowly sliding again and picking up speed!! |

blame the (Pirelli) tires?
the driver? (I have driven and parked so many different cars on our driveway during snowy days but nothing like this happened before) |

Warm tires melting snow and slush and sliding down the incline... I'd think it only needs a half inch of movement to create enough force to break it loose.
I have a steep driveway, but rarely park in the driveway during snow or ice as garage is usually an available option. |

We used to live on a hill in a house that we were doing construction to. Driveway was removed so our cars were parked on the side of the street. As I was talking to one of the framers who had stopped his van in the street, we watched with amazement as it started to slide down the street. I'll bet you can guess who's car stopped his van from careening into our neighbor's house! I've never seen that happen since but obviously, it happens! Glad everyone was alright!

Exactly, just had that happen the other day. Except in this case it was while we were driving. We came to a full stop, then a second or two later we started sliding. Wet sloppy snow …
