First service

Who knows when the first service is due on the X1. I would have thought it'd be after 500, or 1500kms, but my dealer says 10,000. I'm trying to plan a tour around when it's delivered and didn't want to go too far if the 1st service should be earlier than the 10,000. I'd like to think the car'd have fresh oil before then. Anyone know the real answer to this?

Hi Aus X1.The first service is basically due at 15000km,but its a bit of a joke.Basically a look over.They dont do anything except a good clean.BMW Diesels do not require an oil change until 30000kms.Yes I know it sounds a lot but Synthetic oils are unbelievable these days.I work in an industry that is all synthetic lubes.

A seller at the saloon told me to check oil at 10k km. Just to be safe as it's a new diesel car.

Agreed.
Check your levels especially oil as a new engine alwaysburn some during break-in. Otherwise first official dealership visit is at 30 000 k. (That's roughly 20 000 miles...

)
