I love Michelin Pilot Sports. Take into consideration I do not know what the climate is in your region, your driving habits, what mileage you want out of the tires, budget, etc.

- climate in the region: moderate (No snow) - driving habits: normal, 70% good tarmac, 30% city - what mileage you want out of the tires: at least 50.000km - budget: less than ROF; Tanks |

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my X1 right now, and they are OK. I use them as my "non summer" set. They did a great job in the 9" of snow that we had last week. I even ran through(over) some much deeper drifts without any problems. They do ride harder than I expected though. If you think that the RF tires are too hard-riding then you might want to opt for Conti ExtremeContact DW(Summer) or Conti ExtremeContact DWS All-Season. They are a bit more comfy and a damn good tire for a lot less $$$ than the Pilots. I have no personal experience with the Contis on my X1 but I do on my '06 Miata...I'd get them again if needed. When the Pilots wear out I'll replace them with the Conti DWS.
FWIW, when running non-run flats I keep a small compressor and a "Stop and Go" tire plugging kit in the boot. No issues so far with over 10 years of driving non-run flats and no spare. *fingers crossed* |

A question I'll have to answer when the OEM runflats wear out...we often go south in the winter, and equally often have had to sneak out of PA with significant snow on the roads. Hence, I'll need to fit some kind of all seasons, tho' I'll surely buy some real winter tires for use around home. The good winter tires can't abide being run above 40*, so using them for the trip south isn't an answer.
We had put some high-performance summer tires on my bride's Audi, and I didn't see enough improvement to justify continuing to use them, particularly with the Florida trip issue. Moon |

My 2013 BMW X1 SDrive 23i came with 225/45R18 ContiProContact SSR Run Flat Tires. They give a hard ride. I looked at replacing them with Bridgestone-Potenza S001 RFT. But decided a RFT will be hard no matter how “good” they are.
So Traditional Tires soon. TireRack suggests Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Anybody happy with these? How about using a compact spare tire? Or a ContiComfortKit ? We live in Honolulu so can’t get too far from service. What does BMW Emergency Road Service do for me if I don’t have RFT and don’t have a Spare?? |

I've carried a compact air compressor and used roadside numerous times without RFT's, they're just dispatched AAA folks, they won't care if you have RFT's or not. |
