Wow...and it goes perfect with the Alpine White. Nice job! Too bad around here in New York, cops always pull people over for tinted windows, especially on Long Island. Almost all my friends who have tinted windows got ticketed. I have a NYC PBA card, but Long Island cops don't honor city PBAs.

I'm going to have my back door and side windows tinted tomorrow. You can't tint windshield and front side windows in Russia. There is a fine and you are to remove the film before you are allowed to drive on.

On my last car I had 35%, but I wanted to go a little darker for the white/black contrast. Looks great in 20%.

I went 50% all the way. Sounds like you may be in violation of California law if you went 20% on your front side windows . .

I had mine tinted today: 5% on the sides and 15% on the fifth door window. 5% - nothing is seen from outside. Seen well from inside during day time, hardly anything seen in the evening. 15% is not so dark, I can see cars with lights on behind me - day and night. |

What is the best kind of tint to get? And what should I expect to pay for just rear doors and rear windows? I haven't dealt with window tinting since the 80s! I'm hoping the technology is better.

I used Llumar metallized film. The cost of the material and work will be different in Russia and the US, I guess. I paid a little bit more than a hundred bucks. The same folks that tinted my previous car three years ago (Suzuki SX4). Never had a scratch, decolorization or peeling off.

Looks good newsbee!
My BMW dealer wanted $480 to do what I had done. And apparently that was a "deal" on their end. I paid a guy, who was referred to me by a co-worker, $225 to do all the windows but the windshield. He runs a mobile service, so he showed up and did all the work at my house out of his van. Very convenient.

My BMW dealer wanted around $400 for the same job - rear windows and door.
PS. The topic starter's white car with dark tinting looks absolutely gorgeous! |

I paid little bellow $500 for 35% Formula One Pinnacle (ceramic) all around and Llumar Air Blue (ceramic) on the windshield. To me ceramic is a must to not interfere with the car's reception. It shows lighter than metalized, but that's how I like it on my mineral white with red interior.
