Dealer Woes
Hi,
Been tracking X1 forum from pretty long time and was excited about Indian launch of X1, as its a good entry point BMW and really as sporty car in comparition to CRV and other cars in the range in India. I was really disappointed on one of the post where when discussing about the launch of X1 in india some one commented of there doubts about the quality of the car, but then, to my shock it was proved correct, What I mean to say here is when we talk about the premium segment cars, we talk about whole experience of owning such great hardware under a great brand. Actually I am yet to fully get my hands on the X1 which I purchased (The Next phase of booking) On great day of 18th of April 2011, I got the car keys, took nice pictures with my X1 , got nice flowers from the dealer and the joy of owning my first BMW ends there . How does it ends there, hmmm, the dealer was yet to register the car in-spite of having the booking for more than a month, and till date i.e 29th of April 2011, I dont have the car with me. (As usual there are long list of excuses by the dealer which I dont want to bore my mates here) Hence today I promptly mailed BMW, they responded and forwarded my long mail to the dealer to sort out the issue, and I get call from dealer saying all kinds of things which contained words like "its out of our control" and stuff which is unacceptable, as the delay was purely due to negligence of the dealer. And guess what I have been again requested some more time, i.e. at-least another 4 to 5 days. Though I did not want to dump the car and request for refund from the dealer, I think that would be only steep left after giving them time till coming monday. And best part, I see from forum that at many places BMW customers get loaner car when they give there car for service, and here even after full payment of the car and legally car been delivered to me and I dont have the car with me from last 11 days and add another 5 days or more days expected due to dealers mistake, when requested for a loaner car, the request was politely declined (at lets leave the goodies which is offered in this kind of situation lets say in Europe) I believe, BMW should also look into total customer experience along with good hardware, as the retained customers are most important asset of the company. sorry boring you guys, will post picture of X1 and my review if of course I get it out of the hands of dealer Regards Abhay |

Yep thats true booking time in here is also long, but I was lucky to get it in one month, here the issue is even after getting the car and paid all the money, the car is still with the dealer for registration process which generally takes half a day and dealer has not done it in past 11 days, and keeping me away from my beamer.
And that sucks even more Regards Abhay |

He probably just wants to keep it on the showroom floor so customers can get a look at it and he can sell more. Hire a tow truck, go and take it home from the dealership that way and register it yourself!

Thats what I should do now , Infact I even offered dealer, that if he gives the car to me, I will get it done, but guess what our obediant dealer says, If I take the car with out registration then Insurance will be not be covered till the car is registered, hence anything happens to car, I am doomed , and that was the perfect scare for me not to do that |

I guess you're in India? In Australia you could just go to the registration people with an engine number, etc and register it yourself. good luck dealing with them for however long you need to.

In most countries with decent consumer protection regs, if the car is not delivered by the delivery date, the dealer gets you a demo to drive around until your car is ready. This is basic customer service when your customers throw a few grands in what you sell.

Hi
Ausx1 You are correct, but In India we need to send the car to Registration office for taking the impression of Chassis number and engine number by registration authority. Gatekeeper; Yes that is as expected but guess what in here they do not oblige and that pissed me even more, thats the reason why I say, quality of whole experience suffers in my part of the world. If i dont get proper information by tomorrow, then I need to insist on refunding the whole amount back, as I am handicapped by not having a alternate car, I sold my last one expecting the delivery. Though my brain says so, but heart says to some how get x1 in hand, lets see who wins . Regards Abhay |

The color is really awsome, I always liked white color, but this time because of my friend, who is seen in the picture (he has a Gran Tarismo) , I took a gamble to go for Marquesh Brown, And I definatly dont regret my decision.

On Serious note, I was supposed to get call from dealer by yesterday, and its now day two from his promised call, leave away resolution of issue, even these guys don't have courtesy to call and update the situation.
I am really out of options and running impatient.:mad 0260: |
