Wheel Spacers talk
OK Im looking to order a set of wheel spacers and have a few question for the more "car educated" guys on here.
My goal is to give my x1 a wider & aggressive stance look. Question is what if any will this effect the handling of the car as it is now? By adding wheel spacers effect the warranty of the car? Would this combo work with my X1 with the M Sport suspension with 19'' wheels? 15mm front and 20mm back? Or 15mm front and 18mm back? or 20mm all around? Hell I have no clue! I see some guys put less mm in back and more mm in front... what would be the advantage? or advantage of Vica Versa? Are all wheel spacers the same as far as reliability? Like http://www.bimmian.com/BWS/84 or http://www.burgertuning.com/BMW_wheel_spacers.html I found this thread with lots of info There is already a great article on spacers that can be found at this link: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336209 Examples of spacer fitments can be found here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=262054 DIY installation instructions can be found here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=272915 But if anyone has advice it would be appreciated

The handling usually is improved by widening your track.
Warranty is like anything else, if there is a problem remove them before it goes to dealer. The only things spacers have been known to wear is wheel bearings.(I have never had an issue and run lots of spacers/adapters for fitment). You can run them with your wheels and suspension no problem. On the stock 18" M wheels I ran 12.5mm front and 17.5mm rear mainly because that's what I had from my 335xi Msport. You could do 15F 20R for an aggressive stance on stock suspension you should be fine. People will run different sizes front to back due to numerous wheel options and offsets to get the required fitment. With my BBS wheels I run 17.5 front and 12.5 rear to get even fitment front to back and my fronts final offset is 14.5 and rear is 22.5. Reliability is pretty good all around, I prefer the Turner Motorsports spacers because they have notches for easier removal and I have had good luck with them in numerous vehicles. Hope this helps |
