Towing in the X1

I believe the towing capacity is 2500 lbs... has anyone actually towed with their X1? We have 2 harleys and want to tow them out west and go on a motorcycle ride for a week or so then tow them back. How capable is the X1 35i as a tow vehicle?

I recently towed my 2700 lbs Jayco Swift travel trailer with no problems. I have seen varying towing recommendations between 2200-4400 lbs which is quite a range. I got the larger hitch from draw-tite which is rated for up to 4000lbs. I have a 2013 sdrive

I have hauled my utility trailer but only with about 500 lbs. I would not hesitate to tow the Harley's except for the fact that you want to pull them all the way across the country for only week. I would rather try to rent bikes out there or crate them and ship as cargo. Unless you just have tons of time to drive there and back.

so you have a 28s... correct? I don't think the S comes in 35i?

Hi all,

We want to tow a caravan with our 20d and the dealer quotes 2500 Euros for retrofit. Aftermarket towing units are around 500-700 Euro, but the dealer said there are also electronic components which they add? Can you give me advice if you have put 3rd party applications to your cars?

Anyone come up with some numbers and if BMW has a hitch for the X1?
