Hi,
I did the same mistake and now that I look at all X1s with corona rings jelously.
I asked for the official dealer for a retrofit under warranty but they said that it will become avaiable earliest by Jan2011.
It sounds silly. Iwonder what they will do if an x1 breaks its xenons

Hi Guys,

Does anyone know if this is available as an 'official' retrofit yet?

Coronas only are not available as official retrofit. You will need the whole Xenon inserts.

I likewise regretably did not order the xenons... *sigh* .. However, just noticed a company selling Xenons for BMW X1 and others. Here is their web site with a link for the X1 Xenon:

http://www.magdatom-car.eu/index.php...ct&prod_id=582

I have noticed that they also advertise on ebay. Not sure, how simple or complicated it would be to fit them. Any ideas?

Why not just buy the Xenon non-adaptive headlight assemblies (left and right) and have the necessary coding done?

Do you mean fitting non adaptive headlight will be easier?
Will it need new wiring harness + control units when going into non-xenon X1?

I mean replacing the entire assembly with a xenon assembly (non-adaptive). It might be a bit expensive, but it's better than tearing apart your existing assembly and replacing the coronas.

I'm not sure if it'll need a new wiring harness and/or LCM, but it will likely need a new software flash. Any competent shop should be able to do this for you. I replaced my pre-LCI E92 taillight assemblies with LCI E92 taillights, and I did need a new harness (BMW part) and a flash, which I got from a non-BMW shop (EAS).

Yep sorry that what what I was hoping to do

buy the whole light assembly.. thats the easy part.

After that I don't know what to do re wiring harness and LCM as BMW tell me my VIN has no retrofit available hence they cant sell me parts that dont exisit for my car..

Don't go through BMW. They will overcharge you on parts and labor. Do you know of a reputable third-party shop in your area that you can work with?

The headlight assemblies obviously exist (should be the PNs that I pasted earlier in the thread a few months ago), and proper coding can be done by any vendor with experience on an AutoLogic machine. That leaves the question of the harness, which a reputable shop can either tell you if one is even necessary, and if it is, how to obtain and install it.

My X1 does not have the Xenon. One of the option is be patient and wait for the after markert headlight assembly. Or get a used set from Taobao from China.
