Bluetooth voice control not working

Traded my 2013 xdrive 28i, X line, prem pkg, cold wthr pkg for a 2015 Xdrive 28i Sport line, prem pkg, cld wthr pkg, lighting pkg. alpine white with Coral Red.

Ordered it and picked it up today. Loving the color combo, sport wheels and sport seats.

After I got home, and paired my phone, I realized the the voice control for the bluetooth wasn't working. The phone pairs fine, I can make calls with my phone or the radio input and it works fine. I can receive calls with the handset button on the steering wheel. But, when I hit the voice control button....nothing. The voice control worked great on my 2013. I have an appointment to bring it in next Friday. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

Can anyone with a 2015 non NAV confirm that their Bluetooth voice dial works? It worked great in my 2013 non NAV X1.

BMW probably decided to disable the BT feature, along with other stuff, already disabled, if you don't buy the "Tech" package. They've probably seen Porsche's earnings ratio, and went green with envy.

Sorry to be of no help, as I don't even carry a cell.

You don't carry a cell?? That's madness....lol.

Window sticker specifically states "Hands-Free Bluetooth." It's not hands free if I have to use my hands to make a call.

Hands free technically means you don't need to hold the phone to your ear. I'll try my car out today to see if the voice command thing works. I'm pretty suer it does nothing.

So....took my car to the dealership.....my SA was just as baffled as I was. I left the car there all day. He called back late in the day and said they spent the day trying to figure out why they couldn't get the voice control to work. At some point, they found one person in the service dept that had some information.

Apparently, BMW quietly removed the voice control from standard bluetooth during the 2013 model year. My last X1, a 2013, was an early model year build and had voice control with the standard bluetooth. My previous 4 BMWs also had standard Bluetooth voice control.

I did some research and found out that the poor performance of the voice control was a common complaint on the JD Power's surveys received from BMW and Mini owners. BMW and Mini share most of the same electronics systems. Work was done to improve the system with the newer NAV and I drive system voice control but instead of simply trying to improve the quality of the standard Bluetooth voice control, they just eliminated the feature. Simple fix.....right??? Consumes can't complain about a feature that no longer exists.

The funny thing is that my salesman and 99% of the people in the service dept claim that they had no idea the feature had been removed. How is that possible???

So....the "Hands Free" Bluetooth feature in my car is really a "Hands Full" Bluetooth.

I tried mine, didn't understand how to make a command. But when I pushed the button, it asked for a command. Clearly I don't know how to use it. Probably because I don't care about technology like that

I couldn't get it to work on my 2015 X1 with iPhone 6. The phone is paired, making calls and accessing the phone book with Professional Radio, but when I press voice control button nothing happens :/

BMW removed the Bluetooth voice control feature from the 2015 X1. While most manufacturers add features to vehicles, BMW chose to remove a feature. To get voice control, you're forced to spend thousands on an outdated NAV system and tech package. I just use my iphone6, through SIRI, which plays through the Bluetooth system, for calls, texts, NAV, etc... It's leaps and bounds ahead of any tech BMW has to offer anyway.

They should remove Voice Activation button from steering wheel for X1 without Tech Pkg. When we test drove the car, we saw the button for Voice Activation so we were pretty sure it has it, go figure.
