new wheels, but which

I'm looking for a new set of summer wheels for my X1 23D right now it has 18" original BMW alu, but that is whey to small and generic But my problem is i dont really know what type of wheels i want and what will look amazing on the X1 and also how big and wide i can go, i have been thinking about 8,5x20 in front and 10x20 in the rear but not sure if 10x20 will fit in the back.

I have attached the 3 wheels i have kinda settled on right now and the style i like, but again is far from sure.... So any pictures and suggestions are more than welcome

If you go to Tirerack.com you can enter your vehicle info and browse dozens of styles of wheels - then see a picture of what they would look like on your vehicle. You can even make the vehicle the correct color. I found it pretty cool.

Even if you are unable to order from them, it is still a good tool to help you visualize what different styles look best to you. Good luck.

Garage List
Not sure a 10 in the rear will fit being a 20" diameter. You can make it fit by cutting and rolling etc. The widest I'd go with a wheel that tall would be 9.5. Check out some of the photo threads, lots of us have aftermarket wheels. Some required trimming, some didn't.

Had Beyerns once. They sucked. Cast out of round and never could get them sorted. Avoid at all cost.
20" all for show and no go. Ride will be terrible and handling will likely suffer. Not to mention how easily they will bend on less than ideal road surface. I would not go past 19".

Looking at the Beyern in the second photo, it actually has similarity to the style of the wheels that come on the X-Line.

I also suggest tirerack in particular Bremmer Craft wheels which are similar to your 8 double spoke selection.
As for colour, the mind boggles. I prefer Chrome but they need really looking after eg. Proper cleaning products which the biggest downfall is what you wash the car with, a lot are not good for chrome. My next choice would be Hyper Silver that's it.
My standard setup - 17x7.5 c/w 225/50/17. I got from carid.com 18x7.5 chromes. Would have liked wider and only + is they come in 18x9 for back staggered fitting. Maybe later. Haven't put the 4x7.5's on yet. Also they were cheaper to get from USA including freight than buying here.
The main point is - Know exactly all your cars Specs. eg. Original Set Up - PCD - OFFSET - CENTREBORE. I had to order my wheels according to a 2013 X1 SDrive 28i when my X1 is a 2011.5 SDrive 20d. But it took a lot of questioning of BMW to know that a lot of the models are similar.
Keep us posted and Good Luck entering the Wheel Minefield.

Personally, I wouldn't go with 20's for a number of reasons. Regarding wheel manufacturers, I recommend VMR's if you can get them. They offer of number of styles and finishes in Square or staggered fitments. They have an impressive gallery on their website, although it seems to be offline right now. Tell them what you're looking for and they'll get you dialed in.

After a ton of surfing and visting wheelshops I think that I close to deciding on a set of Tomason TN9 in 8,5x19 and 9,5x19

Wow, that's a busy wheel...almost Alpinalike.

Glad I don't have to clean them and thankfully, BMW has changed to ceramic pad material.

They look Okay, BTW.

Those look nice. You will have to post photos when you get them put on your X1.

Hi Tossi,
Looks good. Similar style to your other choices but for me not overkill on sizing.
Width - Min.Tyre - Ideal - Max
8,5 225 235-245 255
9,5 245 255-265 275
Good luck with your fitments and installation. Lets know final outcome.

That looks nice but also looks like a bugger to clean.
