unmarked F25 X1 spotted in Wilmington NC

Noticed this today in the neighborhood. Looks like manufacturer plates too. Just thought I would share.

Looks like an X1 to me... has the black roof rails too that we can't get on the X3 yet, but can on the X1. How big was this car?

Hmm maybe it was an X1. I've never seen one yet in person. It was what I expect an X3 to be as far as size. How big is an X1? heh.

yeah I'm not sure how big an X1 is myself either, I just had read it was a lot smaller than the X3 especially after seeing this video. I'm assuming that guy is huge next to it..

from the video looks like that was definately an X1 you saw. They are supposed to be coming to the US I think, maybe this is a sign!

Nice shot btw!

Definitely an X1. I drive past one on my street regularly. Already looking forward to pulling along side in the new X3 and comparing sizes!

No,it's most certainly not smaller than a VW. It's pretty much exactly the same size as a 3-series estate, except taller. I should know I have one, in the same colour.

The pic is most definitely of a X1. Regarding the size though, aren't the Tiguan and the X1 pretty much exactly the same overall length? I seem to recall reading that somewhere.

Velly interesting... On the day that I bought my 135i, there was an as yet unreleased X3 on the floor. The emblems were covered with blue tape, but it was quite obvious what it was. The salesman mentioned that BMW had made an effort to make the X3 more appealing to women as their research indicated that a lot of Lexus purchasers were women. Lexus sells lots of RX350's. For if BMW wants to be the #1 selling premium vehicle in North America, it is going to have to come from SUV's because things are already about as good as it gets with the cars.

Looks decent, that's probably going to be the size of the older x3 since the new one is the size of older x5 !

I heard the exact opposite regarding demographics. I heard it was designed and 'packaged' to tailor the car towards men. More tech- for the guys and more sporty. I dont recall the options on the old X3 but I remember it looked like crap and much prefer the new model. Wife still wants an X5 when her car is up.

It has the exact same tail lights as the Toyota Avalon next to it.

Your salesman is making up stuff. Car manufacturer's want their cars to be masculine, almost never feminine. Theres a whole lot of psychology behind it but think of it this way, you see guys buying masculine stuff all the time, and women buying masculine stuff all the time, but you rarely see guys buying feminine stuff (unless they're homosexual). As a car manufacturer you will sell more if it appeals to men, because then both men and women will buy it.

Yes this post was initially in the X3 thread, the person who took the picture and posted it initially thought it was an X3. Last night I posted the link to this topic off of this thread and someone moved it over here and changed the title by adding the X1, they should have deleted the F25 though as well... used to just say unmarked F25 spotted in Wilmington NC.

Weeeeellllllll... The approach might be different in North America, land of big gas-guzzlers, V8 powered HUGE cars... An X1 looks rather small, even compared to a run-of-the-mill Impala, where in Europe it's an average size, in the likes of the Mondeo, 3 Series or A4.

Look at the Mini. Fact is, in Europe it IS a girl's car and the marketing is geared towards the feminine crowd.

So there might be some sense in this dealer's observation...
