Obsessed?
This is my first post on the x1 forum. I am active on the 1addicts and e90post forums as I own and track a 135is and 330i. Also have a 2000 325 e46 which also goes to the track. Father son thing...All of these cars are modded in some way.
Anyhow, I just completed agreement to purchase an x1 2.8 sportline for my wife. I'll be getting rid of her Audi A3 s-line which I've loved to not love almost since we bought it. This will be my 6th BMW and I'm hopeful that I can stay away from the mods. I suspect I'll be successful but you never can tell. Anyhow expect to see me trolling here a bit more..

Wheel spacers are pointless. Just keep it stock and enjoy the good fuel economy. Save the mods for the M3

Picking it up tomorrow. Think I can turn it into a track car? Springs, struts, sway bars, and a little juice box.

It's never going to be an M3 class car, obviously, but I am convinced it would make a quite good rally car if jacked up an inch. Even stock, it takes twisty hilly turns like a champ, and you can four-wheel slide it around bends with quite remarkable accuracy. This is where the X1 belongs, in my opinion: |

Love the pic. Was kidding. This is the wife's car so I'll leave it alone. My 1 and 3s are the track toys.

Of course I would have no intention of taking it rock crawling or anything like that, but it would be nice if you could make it into a bit more of a rally car type that can handle the bad weather better and some light off-roading. Maybe some skid plates and some sort of kit to lift the car a tiny bit so that perhaps you could put fit some 60 series off road tires. Because I've checked and can't find anything that is 50 series that has an off road tread. |

Good to see that others aren't afraid to get the cars dirty. This was from driving across a job site (I am a civil engineer). It was a little dirty than it looks. And us, I plowed through about 8-9" of mud, hence the build up on the front. |

The low front skirt of the M-Sport I have has plenty of scratches and white spots near the bottom, and the wheels have a some chips. That's okay, really - the car is being used, doing something it's quite good at.
It's not an off-road vehicle by any means, but it's a surprisingly good dirt road car. |

Will post pics soon. Installed the mud flaps this last weekend and had the windows tinted. 50% front and 40% rear. Ordered a KN filter too. Still trying to stay away from the mods though.
