X1 sdrive and xdrive differences
a question for all the mechanics out there: what is the difference between the sdrive and xdrive X1 cars apart from the obvious rear wheel only or four wheel drive. specifically, does the suspension system change in anyway or is it just simply a change in drive power distribution when needed?

Sdrive has a mcpherson suspension and Xdrive has deformable parallelogram (I'm not sure if is the right translation) both in front axle.
I can say that it's really noticiable the difference between these type suspensions. I could feel it when i drove a X1 xdrive before got mine's.

The X1 Sdrive does indeed have a MacPherson strut on the front wheels and a Multi-link system on the rear drive wheels. As the Multi-link system is more complex (=more expensive), they are only putting it on the front wheels of the xDrive where it makes a difference. |
