19" tire recommendations
Curious, what is the consensus of the group? I am leaning towards a higher tread life, all season, non-run flat.
i wish i had 18" rims. 19" is kinda spendy for a new set of skins.... |

Why not change the wheels at the same time? You can sell your wheels and probably still have some money leftover from buying new rims to put to the tires.
I'm using BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 AS. They're not exactly great in the snow, but rain and dry they behave rather nicely. I had Bridgestone RE760 on my previous car and they were fantastic, but of course no good for winter |

Public Service Announcement:
Never buy RE760s again. The 760s are branded as the RE001 in the rest of the world. Except the rest of the world isn't living in 2006, and is already up to the RE003...we didn't get the 002 or the 003 in the states...until now... Last fallish, branded as the "Firestone Indy 500", we finally got the RE003. DIRT cheap and better than the 760 (it's essentially an updated, updated 760). If you liked the 760, you'll love these.

Oh of course. They're summer tires. Good in the dry and wet. Not good in cold temps and certainly not off road.

Are you looking to soften up the ride a bit?
If so, look at Conti DWSs...comfy, good in the snow, so they'll be decent off-roading a bit.

Tire choices can be quite personal. What works for me might not work for you. There will be some trade-off b/t performance, tread life and cost. Pick two.
Downsizing to 18" is a wise option from cost and comfort perspective. |

Thx. kinda think i should keep 19" for resale. Leaning on Conti DWS.
I run 17" studs for winter. Studs and x drive is a snow machine! thx for comments... it was down to Pilot vs DWS. I couldn't get an 18" downgrade to pencil out, not sure i wanted to abort the staggered stance...I have an M sport. . Going to non RFT should work well. |

Staggered 18s were a factory option on the MSports. As were square 18s and staggered 19s.
Not sure the 19s help resale with that ride quality...they're not exactly in demand. 18" 355's, stock staggered: http://e84.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=892796 Plenty of us running aftermarket staggered 18s as well. Last edited by PrematureApex; 03-17-2017 at 02:15 PM.. |

But why would someone buy a set of 760s today, when there's a 2-generations more advanced version of them on sale for significantly cheaper? That makes no sense. "No thanks, I'll take the underperforming, outdated-by-10-years model that costs 50% more". Nonsensical. The only rational excuse for buying the 760s (RE001s) today is that you weren't aware that the Indy 500s are the RE003s.

I'm using BFGoodrich g-Force COMP-2 AS on 19" and it grips a lot (I use them during summer only)! The ride is harder on 19" of course. I have 17" Blizzaks during winter.

We had a 25 year winter here, and I made it through all the crap mother nature threw at me with Conti Extreme contact DW summer only tires. Never got stuck, and they're real good street tires that're pretty cheap.

It's not about getting stuck, it's about stopping and turning. Very dangerous, both for you and those around you in actual snow of any depth.

If you have winters, why wouldn't you run summer's in the summer? Too cold up there still?

thx for chiming in. Looks like were all in the similar area of the country. I think I probably made a wise choice on the DWS 06 for three seasons.
for winters, I run Nokian Hakka studs on 17" wheels. that is a topic for another thread. thx for the help, I know tire topics can be beat to death. |

Sorry for the delay. Yes basically, autumn and spring are really variable here in Canada (50F one day, 14F two days later). I also like to keep my summer set during autumn as long as possible, since blizzaks on dry pavement wear just too fast. Also, since I'm staggered on my 19" I *think* that the all-seasons (G-force A/S in my case) wear a little less faster (at least according to the mileage warranty) compared to let say Michelin PSS (which is probably what I'm going to try if I decide to try Summer's).

quick update:
Have the Conti DWS 06 installed. Work really well on dirt roads and water. A little "mushier" than the stock P Zero tires. Will have to see how they are when broken in. Also, hoping they last longer than the P Zero. The P Zero were harsh, but awesome on the curves. Horrible on my dirt roads. I think this is a good compromise so far. |

Yup, known to have a soft widewall. Try running them in the high 30's pressure wise to firm them up a bit.
