My wife and I have been looking at these
http://www.nuna.eu/usa/pipa They're supposed to be 2in shorter than chicco keyfits. Has anyone tried it yet? We're expecting our second baby any day now and wanted to get something more compact than the keyfit.

I have a stokke car seat and iso fix and it takes up a fair amount of room. Goes behind the passenger seat as I'm 6ft6 and that's not happening.
Passenger seat is moved forward a fair bit to. Not as big as I thought it may be internally. |

Well the nuna pipa doesn't work well at all
Will be returning it. The way the geometry works out it is actually worse than our Chicco. Oh well, I guess if we need more room we might have to get a larger car. I hear the upcoming Mazda CX-9 is nice

So we ended up going with the Cybex Aton. They also have the Aton 2 and Aton Q which had a couple of increased safety features but I couldn't justify the huge price jump so we went with the entry level one. All are the same size. With the base and seat behind my wife on the passenger side, she is plenty comfortable for road trips.

I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. We just got a CPO'd 2014 X1 35i (we also own a 2007 X3). My wife is due in just over a month with our second child, our first is almost 5. So any booster will work space wise in the back seat for him. Our concern is the infant seat. I'm the main driver of the X1 and I'm 5'6" on a good day, so the space behind me isn't an issue. The issue is the passenger seat. My wife is 5'10" and would rather not have her knees up against the glove box when riding in the X1 with an infant seat behind her. I could put the infant seat behind the driver side but I would rather not have to take an infant seat out of the car on street side of the vehicle (US LHD).
We saved our bugaboo chameleon stroller from our first child and would like to buy a new seat that is compatible with it. Previously it was a graco classic connect which is no longer available. Our choices are now: chicco: keyfit, keyfit 30 Aton: 2, Q Maxi-cosi: Mico AP, Mico Max 30, Mico NXT, Prezi We went to buy buy baby on a rainy day to look at new seats but were unable to fit any due to the weather. She seemed to like the Keyfit 30 (http://www.buybuybaby.com/store/prod...Keyword=keyfit) but we are unsure of the fit. any ideas on which will provide the most front passenger room? |

Can I get an update on which seats have worked?
Wondering what you all ended up going with? Expecting our first next month and this is the only unknown (this and having no idea what I am about to get myslef into).
Wondering which rear facing seat works without moving the passenger seat too far forward. Also, any insights on the LATCH system. Thx |

We use a Britax B-Safe 35 infant seat/base in the center position. Fits fine. Also fits in our 135 and M3 as well.
You can forget using an infant carrier directly behind the front passenger seat and still having a front passenger in that seat comfortably. The seat needs to be quite far forward. With it in the center location, you can have the front seats back a good ways. The other option is to skip the infant carrier all together and go with a convertible from the start (or at least move to it quickly). That will give you more room.

Depends on the size of your front passenger. My wife is 5' tall and she was relatively comfortable with the carrier seat behind her. We did switch to center position for the convertible and that's much better. Right now using Peg Perego Primo Viaggio and it nicely fits between the seats.

Isn't it recommended that infant seats be placed on the centre for maximum protection in case of side collisions?
It's been some years since our infant seat days. Ahhh enjoy this phase. Time flies. |

I think it all depends on the manufacturer's LATCH recommendations. I know at least on some cars, BMW doesn't recommend using an anchor from each side to secure in the middle. Whatever, it works just fine.

We went with the Aton Q. It was the smallest one they had at buy buy baby that fit in our X1. We test fitted each seat individually behind the passenger seat then my wife would try and get in and out of the front passenger seat (5' 10"). The Aton Q was pretty much the only one they had that worked for us.

I know it's off topic, but what has been the experience with strollers? Trunk space seems to be tidy and I don't have a kid yet nor do I own a stroller, obviously, but any suggestions for the future?

UPPAbaby Vista fits, but if you're shopping at Costco you'll need to set it on its side to make room for groceries.
We ended up getting a second stroller that lives in the car. Mountain buggy nano works well for this but it's not exactly geared for gravel roads. |

We talking old X1 or new X1? The old one was hopeless with a kid, you're fighting a losing battle. Our Britax stroller barely fit in the boot.

The Maxi Cosi Mico AP car carrier only could fit in the middle of the back seat. That is a smaller, lightweight carrier but it is only good until 22lb and our daughter grew to tall for it even before that.
Chicco Nextfit convertible is listed as a good choice for smaller cars. It fits barely behind the driver's seat if I move my seat up 1" which wasn't too big of a deal (I am 6' with shorter legs). I also sit fairly upright when driving. The Nextfit has 9 different tilt angles which is nice. Our alternate was the Maxi Cosi Pria which is supposed to be the best space-saving convertible for small cars. I like the car seat behind the driver's seat rather than the middle because I find it's less taxing on my back to get her in and out. Still hoping I can get away with keeping the X1 for the long haul as our baby grows older. So far so good. |

I think it gets easier as baby grows. Especially as baby starts walking they'll want to be out of the stroller more and the need for a large stroller is greatly reduced. Same with the child seat - once you go to forward facing the space constraints are greatly reduced.

I can tell you for sure that the Bugaboo Chameleon fit and so does the Baby Jogger City Mini, just not at the same time. |
