Ball joints

My steering is a bit inconsistent, I may be mistaken, as I was surprised to find that it seems ball joints are still factory original at 118k miles, so I am thinking whether it worth changing those although anthers look undamaged who knows if there is any grease left.
When do people tend to change ball joints?

I would suggest looking at the inner bushings on the rear control links. They tend to get soft over time - before failing completely - and will cause quite a bit of wheel movement as a result. Just changed mine and it made a noticeable difference.
