Lightbulb Updated X1 at Detroit

So I know we're all very excited with the M3, M4, and 2er intros in Detroit, but what about the X1? Though the updates were minor I would love to see some shots of the revised X1, in particular the interior!

I wondered the same. You can sneak them by looking at the new 2 series pictures and looking in the background. There are a couple shots of a Alpine White and the display. The pics of the 2er are quite good so you can zoom in and see the X1 pretty clearly. She looks a bit "beefier" to me but it's hard to totally tell. Hope this helps.

The X1 already had its mid cycle update since it was introduced as a 2010 model so it only has two more years before being replaced. 2015 and 2016 are it then in mid 2016 the front drive based X1 comes out. Maybe we'll get something like a M235 with an 8 speed and 322 hp but beyond that I doubt you will see any changes other than colors.

Read the headlines, they're doing a refresh of the current generation for 2015

Different tailpipe and some wheels and maybe colors? Not much more than the changes they would make any year.

Leather trimmed dash, I was more curious if they used to leather to cover the harder surfaces. An x1 with leather trimmed dashboard is impressive considering you can't get it on many of the higher end models

There are some minor changes, like vinyl covered instrument cluster cover in sport, xLine and mSport. I am not sure about standard daytime running lights, they are already standard I thought, but it could be a dedicated light rather than running the high beam.

Another change is xLine and Sport trim pieces now have and extra strip of chrome, coral red or piano black (like 328i).

There is no leather trim on entire dash, just the binnacle covering the instrument cluster.

There is no leather on the dash at all. It's "soft touch material" and it's only on xLine, sport line and M Sport models.

The site admin has a thread on the minor list of changes.

Tho' I'm the only guy in the house with any love for a 3d pedal, yeah, it would be nice.
I'll be driving the Jeep a couple days while my deer damage is repaired; it's great to get back to a stick, and amazing how 'automatic' its operation quickly becomes again.
Any enthusiasm for shift paddles as a way of having the best of both worlds?

I'd love a third pedal as well...and I see no use for the paddles, I used them exactly once on the test drive.

I looked for a car with shift paddles for about a month but couldn't find one with options that I wanted. I think they can be fun to use but they are detrimental to fuel economy. I don't even use the sport mode that often due to the same issue.
One occasion when they can be useful is when you want to jump and overtake a slow car in front of you.
On the other hand sometimes having the paddles can be cumbersome when you want to turn the wheel quickly lock to lock, like when I backup from my garage.
In any case if you want to get closer to a manual car experience, shifting with the lever on the console is the way to go.

Mazda, I do use the shifter from time to time, and find the manual push of the entire lever more satisfactory than the toggle switch that was on the Focus that is now my daughter's. Her Ladyship's Audi uses the lever as well, but reversed from the Bimmer if memory serves.
I had the paddles on a now-departed Fit, and didn't appreciate them at the time; they worked in either standard or sport settings, and with the Fit's minimal HP, it was handy to summon a downshift in advance.
Concur that letting the electronics do the shifting is no doubt better for fuel mileage, which I'm still hoping will improve with more miles and milder weather.

I have no preference for either front bumper, but the old one looks more rugged with a bit of additional clearance.

I am also not sure about the red strip on the dash trim, I guess I prefer chrome or no strip like the 2014 model. The soft touch instrument cluster is nice and an improvement. I am curious about the new daytime running lights. I am also wondering if the new navigation software can be installed on existing models.
