Unhappy Scraped my rim, ARGH!

Good Morning!

I've paralleled parked for years and never an issue unfortunately, this weekend, I parked too close to the curb this time. As I was backing in, I discovered, but too late, that my rear wheel/rim rubbed against the concrete!

Some noticable scrapes/scratches. Can the rim be buffed out/repaired? Or will it have to be replaced?

Thanks, Vince.

These guys have a pretty good reputation and are not that far away from you I believe.

I did the same thing, though the scuff wasn't that noticeable. I've seen videos on how to use wet sandpaper to smooth the scuff out, add a little rim putty for deep gouges, and if needed some light spray paint (with the wheel off, and the tire masked)

I did the same thing. So i used 100 grit. than 400. than 1000 for a little polish. I used a dremmel on the most severe scrape, but be careful, one slip and #@%!... Anyway, sand paper cleaned it up nicely -- Not perfect but hey, it's a wheel. Not a huge deal imo.

I just did the same thing and scrapped my rim. I may try the Dremel / sand paper to buff it out.

I took a small chunk out of my M Sport rear wheel and fixed it fairly easily. I used Bavarian Autosport www.bavauto.com to get a repair kit with matching color for my X1. Mine came with putty which I didn't use but it comes with files, sandpaper and paint. I used a dremel also to even it out and the paint matches perfectly. Don't be in a hurry to paint it because you will need a few light coats that need to dry.
