The stop tech kit would be worth every penny. That's my alternate route if the M3 stuff won't fit.

Have you changed your fluid to say a 600?

Yes, running the Motul RBF 600 fluid.

I think that on this car the stoptech kit may indeed be worth the money because of weight. I noticed that even with the Performance Friction pads and motul fluid, once I started driving more aggressively on the track I noticed some fade. I had to back it down and be more conservative, otherwise I would go off the track at the end of the back straight. That's why my top speed in the 1:48 video was only 128mph, whereas I have other laps with a 134 top speed. That's a ton of time to leave on the table just because of brakes, probably 2 seconds.

The issue is with the stoptechs is, my local performance shop who takes care of me has always given me excellent pricing on everything - including the JRZ. But on the stoptech, it seems that some online vendors are actually selling them at break even or even losing money. My local shop wants $500 more than the online quote - that's a ton of money just to support them, but on the other hand they hook me up with things like free dynos, dirt cheap labor, free code reading, amazing pricing on the JRZ, etc. So I need to see if I can justify dropping the extra $500 on them when I already am spending more than is probably sensible on this build.

Buy it elsewhere and pay your shop to install it. Your shop probably knows you are a customer for life, and will continue to spend your money there. $500 is significant savings, and something tells me part of that savings will ultimately end up being spent at your shop anyhow, on something else.

I might see if they are willing to meet halfway or something. I don't mind spending a few hundred extra with them but $500 is a ton. I have a rule on purchases like these where I wait a bit just to make sure it's something I really want/need and not an impulse buy. We will see what happens in a few days.

Either way, good luck with the purchase. I am enjoying reading your posts, and everything you are doing with the X1. I also appreciate that you have a very reasonable perspective when sharing your opinions. Thanks for your contributions to the forums.

Go in and let them know what other people's prices are and they should drop the price. You'll need to do stainless lines too to get rid of the fade

Any chance you could give us detailed information on the suspension when you get it?

1) total damper length (f/r)
2) damper housing length (f/r)
3) spring rates and lengths (f/r)

Absolutely, it should be in this week.

I will be hitting Mid-Ohio with 10/10ths motorsports on Thursday, will be my first time on the pro course layout. Will be interesting to see what kind of time difference it makes. Will post videos once I get back. Until then, a few pics:

I'm trying to sell the wife on a set of dp's, but without seeing a video of how it sounds to give her some sort of reference is hard. You don't have any video's of the exhaust do you?

Thank you!

Sent you a PM about your issues. You need to send me a list of the codes so I can help.

So I finally have the JRZ and M3 suspension on. Ran into an issue where JRZ didn't include a part that delayed installation, but we got it done. Also had an issue where the stock end-links are too long for the M3 rear swaybar; turns out that Subaru STI endlinks fit perfectly and are shorter so we used those instead. They are also made out of metal vs. the stock plastic ones, which is nice. Rear installation for the subframe bushings and sway is a pain on this car, plan on paying a hefty amount for labor - but it makes a very big difference.

My company sponsored Rally North America and the 4200 mile road trip (and hitting 3 tracks) gave me the perfect opportunity to get to know the suspension setup better.

In short, it is pretty remarkable. We settled on an alignment running -2.9 camber in the front and just a bit less in the back, with a touch of toe out in the front. The JRZ dampers are incredible - damping motions happen so quickly that even running the suspension pretty firm (17 out of 24) it is more comfortable than the stock suspension was. The stock suspension had a tendency to crash over bumps - the JRZ just gets them over with in one extremely fast damping motion, and the car does not bounce or sway afterwards.

I did not slam the car height-wise, I settled on a more functional and ideal height from a performance and alignment perspective. I found that 14 clicks front and 15 clicks rear is ideal on the street, where as I like 17 all around on the track.

Here are a few pictures of the car during Rally North America

And yes, this is me beating a R8 in a drag race (both in ET and trap)

What did you run with the new setup? Interested how you did With the track wheels at the strip.

Also, if I were to do the alpine flash and take it to the dealer and they do a DME update, would it put the stock trans flash back in?
