No, still in my car. Allen has sent you an email, but we're waiting to see how to move forward before they stick me in a loaner car. There's no lights on the dash lit up, so I'm sure everything is fine except the lack of power.

Hi Twix,
Thanks for being the Canadian guineapig 😉 Does your car have the electronic waste gate? It seems like I will have to take a drive from Vancouver to Calgary to get it installed once the roads defrost. |

Yeah, EWG. Should only be 2HP difference. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the Canadian cars having overboost causing the Dinan software to back out the timing to keep from predetonation or something. I mean, it works in the F30 328Xi they have, so it should work in my car just the same.

The 328xi we drove exploded off the line all the way to redline. Very close to JB4 in feeling. Once we get this all sorted out, I'll let you know if there's any difference from X1 to 328xi.

We do not see the 18 models in the US and we have not done any testing on the diesels so I can't comment on the vehicles you are inquiring on.

Twix, sorry if this has already been discussed elsewhere but...Why did you switch from the JB4 to Dinan? I completely understand the warranty issues. How would you rate the JB4? If this has previously been discussed, please redirect me.

Glad we were able to get your programming issue worked out Twix and glad you both are pleased thus far with the tune. I'm sure the community in general is anxiously awaiting a more detailed review but personally, "Wow," is good enough for me. =)

Congrats Twix. Drive it around a bit and give us your impressions. Plus any dyno testing you may do.

You should feel a Dinan tune in the 35i, that is unless having close to 400lbs of TQ doesn't appeal to you

I've driven a Dinan tuned Z4 35i and a Dinan tuned 650i. 400lbs of TQ isn't a whole lot for me, I had a 97 T-bird and an 87 Mustang with a 410 Windsor with 3 stages of giggle gas.
The 28i is definitely faster and torquey, but it's not the animal the 35i or 50i becomes with the tune. It is, however, perfect for my needs as a daily driver that sees a lot of highway driving. Hopefully the next trip I have to drive to work, I'll reset my MPG and see how much I'll have lost. I have plans this summer to buy a Cayman S or a 128i and strip it out and do a full racer. I'll be keeping the X1 as a daily and bike hauler .

Dinan is set to go in on February 14th at BMW of Austin. I will give feed back once I have had a chance to run it for a while. I will give a comparison as to acceleration, drivability, MPG's etc...Car is otherwise stock except for tires. Went with non-runflat Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3's in 245/45 18.
