remove trim and lighting from ABC & D pillars
remove head liner
remove fasteners holding roof rails in place and discard
lift away the roof rails and respective gaskets and discard
weld up holes left where fasteners once were
Using an Air file, sand the welded areas until smooth
prime and paint the roof in your desired color...
or do a carbon fiber wrap!

This is just a guess, BTW.

And don't set off the airbags when you remover the headliner to access the bolts in the roof.

I added the roof rails to a e61 Msport that came without them so I could carry my roof box and bikes etc.

Getting them on there was a huge job best left to the dealer. Removing them seems to be about as complicated.

It was about $1700 to get them put on. $700 of which was parts.

Probably more straight forward to special order a new one with roof rail delete

I guess everyone likes something different. I think the roof rails make it look more rugged like a SUV and less like a regular car/hatchback. Without them it looks a bit plain.
