I bought my X1 last Friday and am just creeping up on 100 miles. I only started watching the MPG on the trip computer yesterday. My first couple of days driving were all street/city. When I first looked at MPG, at about 20-30 miles, it was 19 or so. With some freeway driving thrown in with my work commute, I am now at 23. I expect to see it keep creeping up, but obviously it is very very early to draw any conclusions on my X1 and its MPG...

I just went over 200 miles on the odometer this morning. Had the X1 (sDrive28i) since last Friday. Live and work in Los Angeles area, so I guess that constitutes "city" driving. Still on the first tank, obviously (actually not even at half a tank, if I recall correctly). Computer MPG read-out is now 24.7. The LA freeways do open up, believe it or not, from time to time, and that's when I can see the numbers creep up as I watch the read-out. In bad freeway traffic, if I use Eco-Pro, I can see the MPG hold steady. It is in street traffic with frequent full stops for lights and stop signs that the MPG dips.

So I am pretty happy with the X1 MPG at this very early stage.

we are close to 4500 miles now and our average is about 27.1 MPG. On a long trip I was able to consistently get 31-32 MPG at 75 MPG in both directions, so I'm sure I could have gotton the advertised 34 MPG on the freeway if I kept the speed down below 70. Was doing exactly 75 MPH according to my GPS which indicates that my speedometer was showing 3-4 MPH faster (~79 MPH).

In the city, I think for my driving style 23 MPG is readily acheiveable if I'm conscious of saving fuel. I can get 24 if I try very hard. I usually get 22 in the city because I like to have a little fun.

So overall, driven semi agressively, I'm about 2 MPG less than EPA estimates. Can't complain, but usually I can easily acheive EPA estimates with the same driving style. Keep in mind that I have an S-drive. Must be the turbo! (read below)

I think the numbers people are reporting are very different mostly because of driving style. I can easily get lower numbers if I drive more aggressively. This seems to be especially the case with turbo engines that have the potential to be efficient if driven conservatively and quite the contrary if driven aggressively. I take smaller hit from driving NA cars (M54 BMW) agressively. With turbo cars, you just have to keep in mind thay the reduction in gas mileage is greater than a NA car when driven aggressively.

Almost identical numbers as Bimmerized with our S drive except we drive mostly city so the overall average is lower.

Im still on my first tank and getting about 20 mpg on the computer but I dont trust those. Im gonna do it the old fashioned way and divide my mileage against how many gallons I put in the tank when it’s empty like I always do. I’m still not impressed with what I’m seeing so far but I will wait before I start to really complain. I have added a an amp and a subwoofer and window tint and I’m still under 300 miles, yeah I’m a car guy.

I'm getting 19.7 combined on my xDrive35i over the last 2500 miles, pretty even split for highway and city, and I drive a bit fast.

Currently getting 30.5 mpg's. Mostly interstate. I'm very pleased. Currently has 3500 miles. I think it will go up even more as the mileage goes up.

I did a short run on the freeway using Eco-Pro mode. Over the admittedly short 10 miles the trip computer said I was getting 38mpg.

I ended up driving about 26 miles today and the computer says I made 28mpg over about 20 miles of freeway and 6 miles of city driving. 95% of that was with Eco-Pro enabled.

I've stopped using EcoPro because it's so annoying in city driving. Might use it sometime on an open highway.

I am about at 550 on odometer and MPG to this point is just over 26. Keeps creeping up. My Lexus IS250 settled at about 23-24 in my regular driving.

Interesting. What do you find annoying about it?

To me the main sensation of turning on EcoPro is that it feels like a 500 pound person just materialized in the back seat. So obviously starts are going to be slower and it takes longer to hit freeway speeds going up an on-ramp.

I did a little bit of checking MPG with EcoPro on and off and I couldn't really tell a big difference, which may say more about my math skills than anything else.

Since I have stopped activating EcoPro I have still been happy with the MPG, and the X1 runs the way I think it should. To each his own.
