Is extended warranty on X1 worth it?

My X1 is arriving soon and I am debating whether to blow another $2100 on extending its warranty from 4 years to 6. My last car was a Lexus IS which lasted 12 years and still runs great. Do any long-term BMW owners have any thoughts as to whether purchasing an extra two years is worth it?

if you plan on keepi g car for over the 4 years a d putting miles on it, i think its worth it, even if you sell it will add great value to it and helps sell, most banks now even add value for cpo extended warranty....

If you plan on Keeping it... Definitely worth it. and as stated, if you decide to get rid of it with the warranty intact, it travels with the car and makes the car worth more.

The BMW extended warranty or maintenance also can be purchased anytime before the original expires.

Since i'm planning to keep, I actually got my warranty from Geico this time around (new offering). Only $75/yr for 7 yr 100k mile coverage (must start coverage when car is first purchased). I used the money I'll be saving on warranty for the extended maintenance from BMW.

One of the bimmerfest sponsors in California gives very good rates on extended warranties, but he also says to wait until your warranty is about to expire, and shop around then.

I have no idea what insurance my friend had, but he hit a deer that totaled his two month old car and his insurance refused to reimburse him for the cost of the extended warranty he bought, something to check into to be safe with your insurance company.

Good advice. Geico charges 37.50 every 6 months so you don't pay up front. I won't be requesting a refund if totaled.
