Can we check battery charge status in X1?

Just wondering if there's a way to check battery charge status in X1. Saw online to check voltage using the button to reset trip odometer in instrument cluster but doesn't seem it works that way in X1. Any suggestions?

Also, using the trip odometer reset button I came across where it says "01.06 SW E3.40.C1", is this the software version of the iDrive? I'm not referring to the multimedia and phone software that we can download from BMW site -> Connected Drive for users -> Software Update.

Can you advise how you check it as the one I saw in the internet had some numbers come up then you select 9 and then some 18 or sth but in my X1 I don't get such number options at all.

A multimeter. A tool used by electricians and many other trades. It can check voltage, current, resistance etc. A scan tool will also allow you to see charging voltage. The battery charge level really requires a machine to put a load on the battery itself to check to see how strong it is. Your dealer or another shop could probably do that, but at a cost. If the car starts consistently, your battery is ok.

Thanks for the reply but that's bit inconvenient for my purpose. I will be watching videos in iDrive when parked and hence want to make sure that my car battery won't go flat and get myself stranded So, if I could check my battery on the fly then I could run the engine once the charge drops.

When the car is on, either engine running or not, you press and hold the trip odometer until you see small numbers. After you see those numbers you are in menu 01.00. So now if you are pushing the button it will scroll menu 01 (01.00, 01.01...). In order to go to main menu you need to press and hold the button. Now when you press the button you are scrolling through 01.__, 02.__... Go to menu 19 and enter your unlock code (the sum of the last five digits from your vin). After all menus are unlocked you need to go to menu 09.00 to see battery voltage.

This procedure is very well documented on many places:
