Can you feel the gear change from 1st to 2nd?
I got this problem with my 1.8iSdrive automatic. I can actually feel the transmission change from 1st to 2nd gear, especially during heavy traffic conditions. My car is relatively new, only 550kms so far. Before I didn't feel this but lately on low speeds, it is becoming more obvious. The feeling is so bad since you can feel the car jerk a bit. I thought it was the quality of gasoline. I'm using 97-octane petrol. I will drive it for a while and will see if the conidition improves. Any one there noticed the same problem?

In Sport mode or normal? I find sport can be quite coarse, though makes up for this in performance. Also found how you use the throttle in traffic makes a difference, if rough with the pedal, it seems to translate into the gear changes. |

I had the car two weeks and a half ago. Total mileage so far at 550kms. I'm using normal mode. Never felt this before until lately. Well, I have to say I'm quite gentle on the throttle. You can particalurly feel the gear change on low speeds. Anyway, thanks for your comments and will monitor the car again.

The X1 is not an CVT... so, expect gear changes... If in doubt, maybe you should drop in the 4S dealer to check.. |

Hi Ohnoyuji,
Can you feel that on your i28 too? This is my first time to buy a bimmer. I used to drive Toyotas and Honda. Yes, I will check with the dealer. But I think it is better if I drive the car longer and out of town, and see how it turns out. Thanks. |

I feel this too sometimes. Iīve drived 60000 kmīs now. You can feel it from 1st to 2nd gear when you are gentle with the trottle. I think this is just the way it is...

Thank you guys for replying. Well, I guess I'm stuck with that kind of feeling until I change my car again. It is just disappointing since I don't have that in my previous Japanese cars.

almost every single stop and go. The transmission seems not very smooth...
I've accumulated 3500km so far. Mine has the 8 speed electronic transmission mated with the N20 2 liters turbo. I think china has the 2.5 or 2.8 in-line 6 mated with the 6 speed tranny no? |

The 2.5 and 2.8 are both 6 cyclinders with 6-speed tranny. Mine is 1.8sdrive with only 4 cylinders and 150hp. Not enough power I have to say. Wow, I would love to have your N20 turbo engine. Too bad they don't sell this version in China. How much horsepower does it produce? The only good thing with the X1, regardless of variant, is a CBU from Germany complete with iDrive, angel eyes, sun-roof etc. The only thing is that is more expensive to buy it here compare to Canada or United States. SRP is already higher, not to mention the 10% sales tax, and if you are in Shanghai, auctioned plates add up to your cost.
