Electronic Engine Oil Check
Hi All
The hand book indicates that the engine oil level can be checked by using the computer IE flick up the No1 switch on the indicator stick until the oil can appears, No oil can on mine, Do all X1,s have this facility? if so what am i doing wrong! |

I had same thoughts, dealer told me if it has a normal pull out dipstick, no electrical check is fitted or availiable. My 2.0 xdrive is manual dipstick.

As far as I know only the petrol engines have this electonic oil check. The diesel engines only have normal dipsticks.

My dealer told me that my car had it, I did not find it. But one day the computer told me "Fill up with 1 liter of engine oil" when I turned the engine off.
At least something electronic |

Call it old-fashioned, but I"d rather check on the dipstick once a month than trust an electronic device.
The consequences of such a device failing are just to dire to bear...
