I play music from my phone's collection through bluetooth, and the quality was fine (not great). The connection was very smooth, and you can skip songs using the iDrive knob.

Yes, but this assumes having the Technology package, or Ultimate pkg. If you opt NOT to need a $2500 NAV unit, it leaves you with less connectivity.

Because stretching for a touch screen is a driving hazard, and this is a 150 mph car?

I wish touch screens in cars got banned - it's just as dangerous as texting and driving, for much the same reasons.

And I for one am happy about that. Where I live, we pay taxes based on the base model price, so by buying a $35000 car with $15000 of extras, I get less yearly tax than if I had bought a $50000 car with $0 extras.

Our state repealed that tax about 10 years ago. A citizen started a petition...

It's not a state tax here, it's a town tax.

I paid more for my X1 than our Evoque, but because the base price for the X1 is far lower than for the Evoque, I pay a hundred bucks less.
Next time around, I hope they make the engine an option too...
