Mine have been mostly silent for the last couple weeks, although every now and then - maybe once or twice a week, they start squeaking like crazy for a short time. Then it's all quiet again for a little while. Bizarre! I've tried to gauge whether the air temperature or moisture (rain or dry roads) is a factor but there really seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why, or when, they squeak. The last couple times I've noticed it is after I've been driving in the car for over an hour... Is it possible that there could be something other than the pads or rotors causing the squeaking?

I don't think so. Our car squeaks a little bit on an irregular basis too. Once again, it shouldn't squeak no matter what.

Thanks. Still no squeaks? Canbec changed only the pads on mine last time, good to know that they will change rotors as well.

I have created a Facebook group for everyone to list their squeaking problem, attempted fixes so far and hopefully, the final solution. Please join and help out this community.

Think a lawsuit is the last resort. Next step (if the dealership can't resolve) is to request a meeting with the district service person.

Just curious, and I really do feel for anybody suffering from this problem, but....why is it only Canadian X1's that appear to have the sqeaking brake problem?

Northern European cars deal with similar weather conditions and will have been built alongside Canadian cars on the production lines using the same parts etc.....I just don't get it .

Yeah, I don't get it either, but I think that our 2.8 turbo four engine has something to do with it. Canada was the only one to get it starting almost year ago. I can hardly wait until this config starts rolling out in other geographies (like the U.S.) to see what happens...

You would think that the Germans could deduce what parts are causing the problem instead of just wildly replacing parts hoping that something works.

There's surely some squeaks cos it's a BMW! My previous ride has similar problems. Apparently all BMWs' brakes squeak!
