regarding tires:height of the tire sidewall should not change significantly for a given tire size, no matter if it is summer or all-season... If you want softer tires in the same size look for summer touring tire.
I remember somewhere in X1 official release anoucement that X1 with M-Sport suspension has the same ride height (ground clearance) as that with non-sport suspension. Regarding tires, the tire sidewall is different, but the space between tire and (car body) arch should be the same (maybe very slightly difference) across all the tire sizes. Otherwise, the TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor) will have a problem, because for summer performance tires, the front and rear have different tire sizes.
