Tow hooks for BMW have been standard operating procedure for a long time. Don't let any tow jockey tell you that yanking your car around using the suspension bits will be ok.

I thought the same about the PDC. The X1 is the first vehicle I've had it in, and I must admit, they are pretty handy. I've always griped when I've seen people using their mirrors to reverse rather than turning their heads like God intended. But, I have to confess, the rear view camera + PDC makes it very tempting to completely rely on it for reversing.

There's a guide in the DIY section on how to remove the grilles for pre-LCI, I'm thinking its very similar.

I followed the guide and it worked just fine. Just note for this installation, its just like removing interior trims, where you need to just grow some balls and PULL HARD (after semi loosening!)

The first grille will take you a bit due to uncertainty, but once you get it, the 2nd piece is cake.

Can anyone confirm that the headlight washer covers need to come off to install these grilles? How does one do this?

Hard to argue with you! Thanks for the link to the pics, those performance kidney grilles might be calling my name! I have the same color scheme as Twix, but have the headlight washers on my bumper.

I had mine done at a shop. We tried finessing the old grilles out but we (the shop manager and myself) were getting uneasy with the amount of pulling on the bumper. Even my dealer couldn't pull them out like they said I'd be able to do. Went back to the body shop and pulled the bumper off to install which was easy. I imagine that those lucky enough to have the headlamp washers will be annoyed with the extra work. Hopefully others can just yank the old ones out without a hitch
