What is this?

Hi there,

Recent owner of a 2012 X1, and there's a box on the dashboard which I imagine is used for some sort of phone attachment, however I can't see any use in this to myself, maybe I don't have the right connections etc.

Does anyone know what this actually is, and is there something I could change it to that is more useful? It is wired in so there's power there, I just want to make use of it rather than having a useless box sat there.

It's for the BMW portable Navigation...

Thanks p4ddY. Having had a bit of a look online it seems that there aren't many of the portable navigation units available, is it worth persevering with an old one, or fitting an alternative?
