I like it and I think that he was spot on...most people would be better in a touring. Unfortunately, they only come in a single spec over here in Canada. If that is ever sorted it would be great.

Until then, the X1 will sell like hotcakes and I am pretty sure that is what BMW is banking on...well, at least until the X3 comes out, because that will be the new best seller.

That X23 is the same price as the new five series - i know what i'd ather have: the quality of the interior of the five series looks incomparable.

I agree 110%. If I could have a 5 series over the X1 I would.

However here in Australia a 320d auto touring starts at 61.5K. The X1 20d starts at 52.7K. Thats a no brainer. Even the X1 23d is less at 59K.

The 530i touring starts at 125K!!! I could get an X1 23d, and a spare just in case for that!

I came down from the 5er to an X1 .. it's all about WHAT your needs are.

I wouldn't worry the guy is trying to be controversial and clever to make a name for himself at the cars expense. I really don't think this is the kind of review most car buyers are looking for.

The whole point of the X1 and other crossovers are that they are a compromise between the extremes of mainstream cars, and therefore appeal to REAL people with diverse but not polarized needs.
