I want to put 5x114.3 Wheels on my X1 for Winter
So I've got a set of 114.3 wheels and almost new blizzak tires that it'd like to put on my X1 for the winter. The Wheels aren't worth anything($150), but Itd like to ditch the all season tires in winter.
Anyone here ever used those spacers that they sell? Any problems with them? I looked into redrilling the bolt pattern of the wheels, but at close to $100 a wheel, it'd be better off buying other wheels. The tires are already mounted/balanced, so it'd have to spent the money to unmount and remount if I found someone to trade wheels(or sold them and bought another set), so I came to the conclusion the adapters would be best. |

Why would you say the $100 adapters aren't worth it? I'll "lose" more than that just selling the winter tires, considering what I paid vs what they are worth. The tires are like brand new. Less than 500 miles on them. Probably 200 on the rears.

Not advisable to run adapters. I'm willing to bet the center bore measurement will be off too. Our cars require 72.56 CB. The amount of weight you would be trusting those adapters to handle is just a bad idea in my opinion. |

Yeah, I suppose. My 5x114's aren't worth anything. Maybe $200. I suppose that's safer, I was just hoping someone used adapters with success. |

You guys are probably right. I should probably sell the wheels and tires and find a set that's fitted properly. The snow tires I have are staggered anyway, so they wouldn't be ideal. Why is everything made out of aluminum? I'd totally buy these if they were steel. |
