Yes, the rear is all the same. If you bother to do it though, put a big bar back there vs. an OE M3, etc.

Anyway it's all in with 4 Eibach's Springs and 4 B6 shocks. Also the Whiteline bushing is in. Waiting for the M3 sway and will be install on Sept 4th!
You get them installed yet?

I'm not sure what's popular on E90s, but I'm sure whatever the baseline upgrade H&R, Hotchkis, etc. are all going to be comparable.

Yup, that's the M3 convertible rear bar, the sedan/coupe bar is 20mm out back IIRC.

Not sure if the H&R bar is stiffer than the M3 vert bar. Keep in mind, it's not only the diameter of the bar, but also the length of the bar's lever arms. We'd need to find out if H&R cheated the lengths a bit shorter to add stiffness (a common practice with aftermarket bars) despite a similar diameter.

I'm sure Para can chime in, but he likes his upgraded rear bar a lot.

Honestly, it's going to depend on how you drive your car. Putting around town, it's a waste of money.

Ok guys I finally install the Bilstein kit and M3 sways bar with STI links. The shop didn't have enough time to put in the sub frame bushing so I skip that and maybe do the insert down the road instead.
So far the car only drop very little but I am sure it will be more once the springs settle and that's exactly what I wants. What surprise me is how smooth the ride is; no more floating but very taut. Not hard at all. Still roll a bit on corner but much less than before and the response are quicker. The best is the rear which is much more lively. IMO this is what a stock BMW should feels like, sporty yet comfortable.

Stinks about the bushings. They already dropped the rear subframe to do the bar...the bushings should have taken mere minutes in addition to that.

Anyway, any bottoming out over large bumps at high speeds?

On a related note, just picked up an E90 M3 rear bar w/bushings/brackets on ebay for $140 shipped.

Now, should I put it on the 135 or the X1? Decisions decisions...

You got a great deal for the bar package! Maybe get another set and install on both cars?

Shop said they didn't need to drop the subframe for the bar just lose it up a bit.

No bottom out at all. It is almost feels like stock just more bottom down. It's still roll a bit more than I like but the limit is much improve when I push it. I guess Eibach springs are really much softer than H&R?

Yup...you can sneak the bar out just letting it hang down 4 inches or so. But that's how you get the bushings out too.

You going to skip the bushings all together, or just install later?

Not sure, the H&Rs still have some roll, albeit what feels like a bit less than stock.

What did they do for the bumpstops? Use the stock ones, replacements, or shorten them??

Since I already missed the boat I just skip it for now. Or maybe do a insert one instead.

You should sell them to me.

The install for the (e.g. whiteline) inserts vs. the whiteline full bushings is so similar, it's probably not worth doing one vs. the other. I ran the inserts on the 1er at one point, only to remove them and go full.

What do you think about the full bushing on your 1er? I am actually afraid it make the back too bumpy and transfer all the noise in.

Oh don't be. Absolutely ZERO increase in noise/vibration/harshness. I've never heard anyone say anything different over the years. It's one of the reasons it makes it so ridiculous that BMW ruined the rear of the car...for apparently no reason at all.

Not necessarily relevant to the thread...but I pulled the trigger on subframe bushings for the X1 after deciding that it would get the M3 rear bar. I'll install them in a week or so when they get here.

Need to make sure I have propane for my torch!
