2013 X1 software update for iDrive? (How to update)

Is there an update for the idrive system, I have the factory version just wanted to see. I've been getting connection problems with my Bluetooth...it's annoying. And if there is....how do you update?

1) enter the last 7 of your VIN here:

http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/nav...update_vin.jsp

2) download the file to a USB stick

3) plug the USB stick into the USB port in the front console

4) go to the software update menu on your drive and select update software.

That is it you are done. I just updated my 2014 the other day, I thought it was odd that that a new car came with outdated software from the factory, updated 1 version.

I've updated my 1M a few times over the last year with the same process.

Per today, July 8, 2013, the last update is from November 2012.

Unpacking the update and looking through the files, there's a lot of interesting stuff there. Among other things, it looks like it will be (relatively) easy to change the bitrate for ripping from 128000 to a better value. And perhaps even add a FLAC plugin - I may try to crosscompile it for the SH cpu, and add a handler for "*.flac" using the plugin. We'll see

Has anyone had any trouble with the site not recognising their VIN? I'm entering the last 7 digits and it's coming up with an error saying the VIN is incorrect. Anyone else finding this?

I've got an Australian delivered X1, with iDrive and the bluetooth/music package, built after March 2010. Anyone else with the same issue?

Yes. I tried the VIN on my Canadian 2014 X1 just now and got the same unuseful reply.

For people not in the states, try using bmw.ca, or .au or whatever your country has for interwebs.

I get the same response "The Vehicle Identification Number you entered is not correct. Please check your entry." So must be a problem with their server.

Tried that. But, for AU users at least, it seems to push to a page on the .com site.
