DIY service info?

I checked online for some electronic owners manuals, but the few I found don't have the info I'm looking for. I'm really looking for some basic self service info regarding engine oil and tires. My closest dealer is 8 hours away, so some of the simple things I might need to do myself.
The specific questions I have are:

1. What is the oil capacity? (if I decide to change my own oil)
2. What are the torque settings on the wheel lug nuts?
3. Are the tires rotation specific, should you, can you rotate them every so many miles?

Any info you can provide would be great!
Thanks,

Have you read your owners manual? The oil capacity and info on tire rotation (I believe it is not recommended) should be in the manual.

I believe the acceptable torque range is between 87 and 92 ft/lbs.

Thanks for the info.
No, I'm not an X1 owner, yet.
But just trying to be prepared. I found a 2013 X1 owners manual, here but it doesn't mention anything about oil capacity, or tire torque.
Maybe its different from the one that actually comes with the car.

You are right, the reference index says it is on page 267 but the info is not there.

I checked My BMW and there isn't a more recent version of the manual available. Perhaps a Canadian or European owner has the info.

Mine says page 265...and like yours, there is NO "oil" info there. There is however, info on Weights, fuel capacity & W/washer capacity

Engine manufacturer:
BMW N20 B20

Engine lubricant oil capacity:
5.8 liter / 6.1 U.S. qt / 5.1 imp. qt

Engine coolant capacity:
8.5 liter / 9 U.S. qt / 7.5 imp. qt

If tires are not staggered they can be rotated although BMW never recommends rotation because "some" of their vehicles come from the factory with staggered set-ups and rotating with staggered wheels would be BAD!...and some owners are STUPID. Be watchful of directional tires when rotating.

Assuming non staggered wheels, and rotational tires, is it advisable to just rotate fronts to backs and backs to fronts on the same side every so many miles, or after each winter set comes off?

re: Rotating tires

Interesting - I had a 'first service' visit Wednesday with the dealer's service shop supervisor (to answer any questions about the vehicle) and we discussed tire rotation - "Not recommended".

I asked about tire life - the run-flats are expected to last about 20,000 miles; he commented the rear wheels' alignment is adjusted so the inside tread will wear early, which may be a reason to not swap front/rear?

This is my first BMW; had a MBZ E350 w/staggered wheel sizes and we at least rotated those side to side.

I'll be curious to see what the BMW veterans have to say.

I have never rotated tires (4 RWD BMWs since 2000), and don't plan to when X1 M Sport arrives. All tires have been directional. The rears always wear twice as fast as the fronts so I replaced the rears twice as frequently.

If they are non-staggered, I fail to see why one would not rotate them as per the normal rotation "schedule".

I think it's subjective. BMW recommends against rotation because different wear patterns will possibly cause instability after rotation, until the tires are worn to their new positions. On an X1 with all-season tires, this might not be much of an issue.

The other is cost. If you rotate them for no cost, then great. Otherwise, if you are paying someone to rotate them every 5000 miles, then you are probably paying more than what you would be saving in tread life gains.

My other BMWs have mostly had staggered setups, so I don't worry about those. Those that didn't including the X1, I don't rotate.
