Dinan X1 xdrive35i M sport

Hi,

I am expecting a delivery in the next few weeks of a 2014 X1 xdrive35i M sport. Has anyone here modified their car with the Dinan Stage 2 mod? Also, if I do decided to get this mod or some other engine mod, should I wait until the car has a certain amount of miles before modifications?

Jeff

There is a more recent thread on this. In short, yes it is worth it if you want a no stress warrantied boost. Make sure you have a "Dinan Authorized" BMW dealership to take it to. Both for the install and for servicing. I have had it since new (July 2013) and put it on at about 600 miles, no problems with it on during break in.
It drops about 2 mpg (about 20-21 now vs 22-23 before) but is noticeably quicker.

Hope it helps.

Others may jump in. If you want more power, there are many reliable kits that are cheaper and make more without any warranty protection though.

I've had the Dinan tune since Apr 2013, mine was the 2nd 35i flash tuned. No issues and I personally haven't noticed any real effect on mileage. Here's one hwy example.

There's not a specific reason to wait for the tune, but it's hard enough keeping the rpms down and giving the car a break in period with it stock. Having a tune is going to beg to use the right foot.

I have had mine Dinan tuned and the first time I drove a normal 35 I thought that it must have been a 28. The tuned vehicle is so much better in many ways money well spent.

Last week I contacted Dinan about the Stage 2 mod for the X1-35 because the website only shows it being for through 2013 (not 2014). I presumed it was a missed website update and would be fine since there supposedly was no change 2013->2014. I was surprised to get an answer back from Dinan saying the 2014 Stage 2 for X1-35 wouldn't be released for 3 months or so?

Since a few posters here said they have it, maybe they are releasing a few as "betas". I can't see them not wanting to take my money.

Maybe Dinan wants to stay ahead of the BMW software update 'curve' that may monkeywrench things.

X1 35 at 7000ft here. No tune yet but considering the Dinan. At altitude turbo motors put out about as much power as at sea level but no more.
