augmenting tire height on stock M package wheels

Hi. My X1 comes with the M package and the 355M 18" wheels, that is: 225 45 R18 front and 255 40 R18 rear. I would like to know if there is a chance, using the same 355M wheels to change the tires to get more height and thus make them not as fragile as my current tires. I haven't done any research yet, but let's say for example a measure like 225 55 or something like that. Is this possible or isn't any way to use different tires sizes on my wheels? Thank you!!

You could go for a bigger tire but your speedo will be off and as a set only. You might use more fuel with a bigger tires as well. Maybe going to 17" with more side wall maybe better if you want more bounce. I would try to stay close to 26" as possible in overall diameter.
