They're out driving their pre-release ordered X1's or monitoring other forums like ED to plan their trips...

I'm digging through the programming forum to see what you could program for BMW's in general just out of curiosity. I wish we knew what could be programming on the X1 depending on the model (ie, if you can enable speed limit notification if you have the auto bright camera like you can on the F cars)

But yeah, not much new info for the X1, and I doubt we'll see anything big or at all since the E84 is only a 2 year model in the US and will be replaced with the smaller Mini Countryman chasis in MY2015. They'll keep the MY2015 info pretty quiet for at least a year and a half probably.

Boring update no.1: Really loving driving mine with only 500 miles clocked. Getting a ton of unsolicited compliments, nothing broke off yet, and wondering when the modding bug will bite.

Cheers.

I'm not looking to modify my X1 but out of curiosity, can you do a cold air intake without voiding a BMW warranty or how much can people do before BMW says an engine or powertrain issue was because of the modification?

It's not going to void whole warranty. My shop knows I have it and don't care. But if something was to happen and they sAy it had to do with the intake you'll have to pay for it...

I just sent my car to the paint shop. This is what's been done (I have a pre-LCI X1 BTW):

All gray plastic lower body parts painted to Alpine White to match body
All silver trims (front/back diffuser, side blades) painted matte black

I also asked them to cut out the right of of the rear diffuser (BMW already has a shape for the shop to cut out) so I can fit a quad exhaust there in the future.

I also need to find a shop to help install my new steering wheel + getting the paddles working.

Do you know which exhaust you are going to go with yet?

It has been quite quiet I'm waiting for the diesel powertrain announcement- NY car show in spring is my timeframe. Will it be Mazda, BMW, or a wimpy subaru if no diesels are announced and save a bunch of cash

New to the forum, just got my bronze xDrive, 28i, crossed 500 miles, good power, handling, currently getting 25 mpg in and around city, as with all new shorts Ive owned, they need break-in time, should improve. Planning to have the stop/start deactivated, along with throttle delay adaptation corrected etc. A little tight for the wife while drinking coffee, her cup already got itself decapitated by the center console sliding forward, not good engineering, oh and the removable holder, that could bust a kneecap! Real glad I purchased the x1, all this little stuff should workout real fine.

Any impressions you care to discuss now that you've got 400 miles behind you?

And you? Likes/dislikes?
I too appreciate the turbo power and the super handling, the cabin issues previously discussed hold true, they seem to originate from lack of storage space for front passenger. BUT LOVE IT!
