Wheel Tire rabbit hole!

I'm honestly going cross eyed and going down the rabbit hole trying to take my next step one tire size or new wheel/tire combo

Looking for a bit of improved comfort from OEM. Not a fan of the Perrelli side wall tapering.

Currently:
35i m sport with 225/40/19 & 255/35/19 RF Perrelli summer tires. (oem)

Options:

1. Michelin A/S NRF on existing wheels
2. Michelin A/S NRF increased profile on existing wheels

3. 245/45/18 square set up Michelin A/S NRF

245 /45 R18 square fits easily, I have those on my front. A 275/40R 18 will fit in the rear.

My GUESS is you could do a 255/40r18 square without issue. And likely 255/35r19 as well, given you ran spacers.

I like my 18s for added comfort, but its still pretty crashy on our terrible roads. The biggest trick would be new bumpstops (many e90 guys run e46 m3 fronts/ z4 rear bumps)

Holy crap! Thank you!!!!!!

I have an e92 sport (for sale) with 19s. This was meant to be my daily. It doesn't handle like the coupe (obviously) so I've given up on expecting it. I do some 2 hour drives and just would like a dash more comfort. I don't want it to be splashy like my winter setup however. I don't want the traction nanny kicking in
when I give it the beans. It may be a tall ask.

Its considered a lifted suv. Good response with a meatier sidewall to fill in the wheel well.

You can swap E9x wheel/tire combos on with spacers. The difference is we run a slightly taller tire.

I also own an E90 and this X1, and yea handling isn't the same, but its not bad.

You'll find the suspension is the same as an Xi, and you can run e90 springs/struts, but you'll need a sleeve for front struts (ours are larger diameter, I suspect same diameter as e90 m3 struts).

Paradoxical and a few others have tracked their X1s. I had mine at BIR at 110mph and it does just fine, with a bit of work it would probably outdo most E9x cars that don't have suspension done. As it sits on stock runflats/stock brakes it was a bit over 2:00 which is respectable for a stock car, just not fast.

Stock tire size E93
225/40/r18 or 25"

Stock tire size for e84
225/45r18 or 25.9'

Brainard International Speedway? Sweet, I'm in Minnesota too! But never been to BIR, or any other race strips for that matter, haha!

I saw your post "anyone try…" and immediately began looking at the 184s. I love the negative offset, the way it fills out the wheel well, and non wrapped tire look. The 184s are few and far between.

What where the oem wheels/tires you came from? 225/40/18? My 225s 19s" (staggered) look nice, but I'm looking for improved comfort while still retaining some performance as it is moderately tuned.

Yes, we did a track day on the 2.5 mile course. Lots of fun. Still need to get the track app videos done. Here's a shot of one of my best laps. Not particularly fast, but this was on 225 pirelli cincuatro runflats which were trash.

This is my car at current. Stock suspension, 275/40r18 rear 245/45r18 fronts on 18x9 SSR Comp H wheels. Lost about 10lbs per wheel going from stockers/225 runflats. If i recall correctly, only needed 5mm spacers up front. Could honestly get at least a 295 tire in rear, if not 305 with some work, at stock height.

I contacted a member who upsized his oem 19s to 245/40 and 275/35. This set up increases the overall diameter and profile and reduces the tire wrap. Meaning they are straight up from the wheel.

A later communication stated that he lost alignment easily. He wasn't sure if it was the poor roads he was driving on or the setup made it more susceptible.

Is this a thing?

I am seriously thinking about this sizing...did you every figure it out?

Nope. I ended up with 18x8 square.

Can you PLEASE be a little more specific?

I have the OEM 225 style staggards.
I'm seriously thinking about going up to 245 40s in the front and 275 35s in the back.

Can you give me some information about what you experienced when you tried this configuration?

Thanks,
Matt

I ended up going with style # 184.

They are 8x18 w/ 20mm external offset

The tires are 245/45/18 all the way around.

This resulted in a slight increase in total diameter. I did get some rubbing on lockout on the right front wheel well. This is due to an extra vent in front of the right wheel well. There is a bolt that seemed to be the culprit. I removed that bolt and put some superglue in its place.
