M3 Steering wheel

I just replaced my steering wheel with a E90 M3 steering wheel along with the BMS paddle shifter retrofit kit. Things are working beautifully! I can't believe how much better the car drives now that I can control the gear the car is in. XHP3 is just amazing. Shifts via paddle is almost instantaneous and it feels almost as fast as a E90 M3 DCT.

Damn, that steering wheel feels good in my hands

Looks good. I've got the same steering/paddle set up. I also just flashed the xhp stage 3. The shifts in S/M are definitely quicker, but the needle doesn't appear to jump as quickly as it does in some of the youtube videos of other N55s. xhp says the needles are dampened from the factory for X1 models and there isn't really a known solution right now. Doesn't sound like you're having that problem though. Enjoy!

I think the you tube videos that u see is what could be done if u are willing to forego smoothness for ultimate shifting speeds. You can acheive that if you get a custom tune. As far as xhp3 ots map goes, i think they are tuned for a balance of smoothness and speed.

Anyways, i love the dct paddles. They are pretty awesome!

Did you have/get to retain the heated wheel?

I previously had heated steering and lost it with the M3 wheel. Sucks to lose a practical feature but the feel and fun of the new wheel and paddles outweigh it.

How is this different from the M Sport wheel, other than being all smooth leather and the color of the stitching?

I think if I had the 35 instead of 28 I would agree, but you know, grocery getter status.

and the paddles. My car didn't come with paddles so I must have a new steering wheel with the cutouts to do the retrofit anyways...

I bought the M3 steering wheel + the DCT paddles for $700. The DCT paddles themselves costs close to $400 even in the used market. I am able to sell the original M sport wheel for $250 so i figured why not?
