Question Possible buyer... Any issues popping up?

Hey everybody. Thinking about getting one of these. Has anybody had any issues, regrets, noises, or problems?

Thanks,
John

I do not get X1 yet. I am a future owner. I did a 15 min test drive yesterday on a X1 sDrive 28i. It is comfortable, good acceleration and quiet. I did not feel driving a SUV. I felt light, like driving a sport sedan. If you want to listen suggestions, I would like to give you two suggestions:
1. If money is not your concern, try to order xDrive rather sDrive.
2. If you decided to order sDrive, try to avoid Servotronic Steering option.
The reason I give the suggestions is that during test drive I felt X1 sDrive 28i steering is too loose at low speed, even worse than my Japanese car (2001 Infiniti I30). At high way speed, the steering tighten up, similar to my Infiniti I30. Because it is BMW, we should get a heavy steering to feel the sporty and stable driving pleasure, right?

Had our Sdrive about 2 1/2 weeks and no issues or problems. The only thing that is remotely irritating is turning it off. Sometimes you can't tell if it's running and you actually have to hit the start button twice to shut down all the electronics (see F30 thread on this). Runs great, handles good and couldn't be happier with interior but could sure use some rubber floor mats as soon as they become available (Beige floor mats get dirty quick). Although it has electronic vs hydraulic steering it doesn't feel bad and I own a 335i E93. So much better than our 2007 X3 there is no comparison.

As a proud happy owner of a 135i..slightly moded....i had grand expectations of the X135i...well after driving it today the difference is pretty staggering next to the 135i..especially the important steering...Indeed the model i drove must of had the Sdrive as the steering sucked...felt like my CRV..I asked the dealer where i could test drive one with MSport, paddles, and one with HEAVY steering like it's supposed to feel....To say the least i was very disapponted in the model i drove..even the Xi35i felt much slower than my 135i and no where as nimble, and also you could feel the weight difference big time.. But then again my 135i sucks in the snow...I was hoping to downgrade to 1 car but till i drive one that feels at least close to my 135i i will wait for the 2014 335xi MT....but maybe the Msport will change my mind but still have no option to get a 6MT.......geez....most likely i will stay with 2 cars as i can not downgrade form the 135i...the performance has spoiled me.

I just test drove the X1 x35i and I loved it! Best driving/handling crossover/SUV i've ever driven. I'm buying the wife one but prob the sdrive 28i. I can tune the n20 to 280HP and pay a lot less than the n55.

My Sdrive is an MSport and if your expecting a SUV that has 7 inches of ground clearance to handle like a 135 or a 335 like I own then your expectations are way off. These are not sports cars, even the new 3 series steering doesn't feel as good as a 135 or my E93.

YEA, I WAS EXPECTING MORE in the steering as all the reviews have been compaining of HEAVY steering in the Xi....to me the heavy steering is great...I have driven lots and lots of cars and just love the steering on my 135i..maybe not as quick as some but just a complete package in weight, feel and a very important thing to me, is how it does not transmit every little imperfection in the road like a Evo or the new Subaru STI...the BMW 135i steering is amazing..and my Yokohama ADO8's make it even better..they grip like mad in the hot weather....one of my favorite upgrads to the car. I can not downgrade my weekend warrior to any car that the steering is not better than the 135i....and besides the Porsche 911 and the 1M and M3( M3 steering is adjustable in weight which is VERY cool) i have not found the car yet with a more total package steering/road feel....even Audi cars do not feel as good.

The steering settings can be coded. I did this on my 128i and the feel is considerably better. X1s are set to increase the power at low speed (so are Z4s as I recently discovered). I don't like that. If you set the ratio to the one for the 1M coupe it works much better!
