xdrive 28i vsxdrive35i 50mph-70mph times

Hello all,

Can the people with tuned x1's tell me their overtaking times(50mph-70mph). For stock cars Car and Driver measured 4,1sec (35i) and 4.2sec(28i) which I am willing to believe as the stock xdrive28i that I test drove did not feel slow and I have seen what a (350hp/400lbft) 328i can do. I am looking to switch to x1 for bigger ground clearance and cargo space. Either one would be run on JB4 + intake and e40-e50. I am curious if there would be a big difference in tuned vehicles cause I hate the gear shifter of the 35i and the softer suspensions of the 28i would be welcomed.

Thanks!

There are various apps that can do it for you using GPS in your phone, or with a Bluetooth connection to an OBD adapter you attach to the car (if you have one)

For the record, the 28i has plenty of power and I imagine with a JB4 it would become a beast. I've had a few people with me who drive the N54/N55 variants of other BMW models and they couldn't believe mine wasn't the same.

I have 28i with Dinan Stage 1. It's quick!

Can this be done with Dash Command?

Most likely. I don't have Dash Command, but it does work with torque.

The cars are closer stock to stock. When you're talking about a JB4 and good gas, the N55 widens the gap considerably.

With flex fuel wires and a JB4, with adequate fueling running even half a tank of E85, you're looking at roughly 375+ whp.

E85 on a JB4 on an N20 is around the 300 whp mark. That's roughly a 100 bhp difference.

The suspension on a 35 isn't any firmer than one on a 28, nut sure where you got that info.

Hating the look of the old six speed is not at all a good reason to pick the N20 if you're looking for power/performance from modding. They even sell new gear levers which look just like the newer 8 speed to replace the ugly knob if you want.

Not that I don't think the N20 is the better choice for most people, with its 8 speed and improved efficiency.

That being said, someone looking to mod, going after power...yeah...hands down the N55. It's the difference between a quick fun little runabout trapping in the low 100s, vs. a downright sleeper running 110+. A $900 hotside upgrade, and you'd have a car that holds the N55 xdrive record...N55 X1, high 11's at 116 (on the stock turbo, intake/DP/50% E85 netted a 12.1 at 111).
