I know I'm an outlier, but I'd drive a car made out of drift wood and Legos if it held what I needed and had good driving dynamics.

The next X1 will not drive as well as this one, but will likely have slightly nicer materials. To me that's all I need to know.

just test drove a black 2015 gla 45 amg iam selling my car! Its a beast! sounds unbelievable. Handles better than my x1. Theres a tune to bump it to over 400 hp and tq runs low 12s with the tune alone. look at videos on u tube.

I believe the GLA will compete with our future X2 and the GLK will still be comp-able to the X1. So if there is a AMG at 400 hp then I hope there is going to be X2 at the 400hp range also ( maybe an M X2)

The nav looks like total crap.
The base model is slow compared to the X1.
The AMG model starts at 50K, I'd much rather have a 335i/535i GT.
The rear is a lot smaller than the X1, with the seats folded down the X1 has 50% more space.
The rear seats are 60/40 split rather than 40/20/40.
I don't know about the GLA but the CLA understeers leaving no confidence on a fast turn. I would expect the same from the 2016 X1.

The 2016 X1 seems to water down the BMW brand where as the GLA is right in the ballpark of something MB would do, building high output abominations that don't drive well.

Nice stereotypes. Shame the LCI C63 tends to get more praise and faster lap times than the E90 M3 and the W205 C63 should be a monster. The new GT-S is so far beyond anything BMW has it's not funny. MB and AMG are making progress, BMW and M seem to be in reverse.

What I like about X1 is that mechanically it is designed for a higher price point. It is based on E91 chassis which used to start at 5k more. Now there is some cost cut in plastics or insulation but nothing significant in terms of the way the car drives. GLA or 2016 X1 are both designed to be a cheaper car to begin with so they might look nicer inside or have better tech but in terms of durability and solidness they will be inferior to X1.

I don't know. I would agree that BMW has been inching forward while everyone else is making leaps. However, I still feel MB builds hammers, albeit a little sharper than before. The C63 is a nice car but turn off TCS and it's a disaster. The old curb weight, displacement, and torque on the AMGs are almost American. You really can't put all that power down in that car especially in a corner. I think the M4 GTS will handedly beat any current C63 but against the W205 coupe will be tough competition since MB is taking a few points from everybody else.

Why would turning the traction control off ruin it? It brings out the oversteer, but it's controlled by a pedal. If the driver uses too much, it's the drivers fault, not the cars. Driving powerful cars can be fun, computers shouldn't always make everything easier.

Slight oversteer is no joke when you're going 100+ mph. Unless you are racing professionally, it makes the car moot. Turning electronic stability control off on a 500HP RWD beast on the track is a death wish for almost all car enthusiasts.

I think that the S55 power output on the M4 is appropriate given the dynamics of the car. I think MB consistently puts more power than the car should handle, just like American cars except for Corvette.

The LCI W204 with slightly wider tires is actually quite tame in the track and fine around town with all the nannies off. My old M Coupe was squirrellier. Should texting bozos be driving them? No, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be built.

I prefer cars that are a bit of a handful to things my grandma could have driven at 99%. Choice is great. I just personally wish more things still came with all three pedals, I'd have a W204 C63 if I could have it with a manual, even a terrible MB one.
